I love the holidays and "gift exchange"
When Ron Berman created the Seahorse Santa Hat for the iconic seahorse at Regatta Pointe Marina, it was more than a holiday touch it was innovation, craftsmanship, and heart in action.
Engineered in less than a week, the hat was digitally sculpted, sliced, precision-cut using CNC technology, and assembled layer by layer with numbered, interlocking pieces for exact placement. Made from high-density foam, then coated in epoxy and fiberglass, the structure is lightweight, hollow, weather-resistant, and built for outdoor durability. Fine details were 3D printed and hand-finished, combining technology with hands-on artistry to maximize strength and efficiency while minimizing material waste.
But for Berman, public art goes beyond materials and methods. He believes in “handing the brush” to the community, showing others that creativity isn’t reserved for a few, it belongs to everyone.
With the support of the City of Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency and our city partners, this project became a reflection of collaboration, resilience, and community pride.
