Nightmares On 49th Presents: The Swamp, a Haunted Experience.

Legend has it that Murkthorn was once a human who was cursed by the spirits of the swamp for desecrating their sacred grounds. Over the centuries, it has transformed into a vengeful swamp-dwelling monstrosity. It guards the secrets of Foster's Creek and seeks to exact revenge on any intruders who venture into its territory. Those who cross paths with Murkthorn may become one with the swamp, lost forever in the dark waters of the haunted creek.

Despite popular belief, the numerous texts, and phonecalls; Nightmares On 49th will not be reopening this season and will remain closed permanently. There are various online haunted attraction sites that have listed Nightmares On 49th and my personal cellphone number and have stated that we will be operating this season, unfortunately this is not true.

The idea of Nightmares On 49th began when my dad and I visited Halloween Horror Nights 27 in 2017 and we were blown away with the detail in these haunted houses and the minimal footprint some of the haunted houses took up. My dad said “You know what? We could probably do something like this for Halloween at home”. My dad has also always told me (for better or for worse) “I give you an inch and you take a mile”. Long story short, what began as a 15x15 foot box of PVC pipes and table clothes and decorations from dollar tree quickly turned into a large, fully immersive haunted experience with 12 actors and a temporary facade built onto the front of our home.

I never thought in 2017 that 3 years later we would attract over 1100 guests on Halloween Night and receive the amazing reviews that we did. I spent a lot of time designing and building the attraction each year and my goal was always to attempt step up the previous year and get bigger and better every time.

Unfortunately with life, there are always larger commitments that must be met and simply put I no longer have time to create this experience and our ambitions have quit literally outgrown our tiny two car garage. I want to thank everyone who came out in 2020 and experienced the attraction, I also want to thank all of the volunteers, actors, and TylerHaunts for helping me design and construct such an awesome experience. Thank you to the neighbors who put up with us the last few years and allowing us to unofficially take over 49th PL E for a few nights every October. Everyone at Nightmares On 49th is undoubtedly sad that our time is over but we are very thankful for the memories that we created in the process.

It is summertime and the haunted house season is fastly approaching. Over the last few weeks, our social media has experienced a large influx of new followers and we have received lots of messages from our fans regarding when we are announcing this year’s details. It is with heavy sadness that we must announce that Nightmares On 49th will not open for the 2021 season. Due to the current increased lumber prices, attractions across the haunted attraction industry around the globe are having to close their doors; Some temporarily, and some permanently. We were looking forward to hosting our biggest event this year and we even began planning to move the attraction to a 32 Acre field to run the event for upwards of a month. We were planning to feature multiple attractions for one price, right here in Palmetto Florida. Unfortunately, we will not be able to open our doors this season however our future is still bright. We hope that we brought our fans some happiness and a fun time last year during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. We appreciate the love and support from our fans, and we hope to bring a new attraction, hopefully at a new location in the 2022 season.

From the creators of Nightmares On 49th, thank you for the amazing 2020 season. We are thrilled that our attraction has been so well recieved by the local community for the last four years. The 2020 season has sadly come to a close, but we have already began creating even BIGGER plans for next season. We hope this experience MOVED you in some way shape or form. A lot of you screamed, a lot of you yelled, lots cried, and some even peed.
