In the summer of 2020, when stages went dark and the world came to a standstill, chose to move forward.

With the unwavering support of board member D’Re Anderson Stergios DRe Stergios and her husband, Jerry Stergios, the Summer Apprenticeship continued against all odds. On the Stergios family property, a stage was built beneath the open sky, and Thelma’s Garden blossomed once again as artists gathered to create, train, and perform.

Many questioned the decision. Others quietly celebrated the resilience of the arts.

What emerged was a powerful reminder that dance is more than performance—it is connection, expression, community, and hope.

Dance was essential then.

COMMUNITY. EDUCATION. PROFESSIONAL DANCE.

This June, the sold-out 2026 Apprenticeship Program of Nickerson-Rossi Dance will join forces with PSUSD ELOP students for Summer Dance Jam 2026, creating meaningful connections between emerging artists and the next generation of young dancers.

The program culminates in a special Integrated Dance Concert at the Palm Springs Art Museum, featuring performances by apprentices and the professional artists of Nickerson-Rossi Dance.

We are proud to partner with Palm Springs Unified School District ELOP Palm Springs Unified School District, Palm Springs Dance Academy Palm Springs Dance Academy, and Palm Springs Art Museum Palm Springs Art Museum to provide transformative arts experiences that inspire, educate, and connect our community through dance.

Rebecca received her degree from California State University, Long Beach . As both a passionate mover and emerging dance educator, she brings a thoughtful perspective to the studio rooted in curiosity, creativity, and connection.

Her enthusiasm for sharing movement with others, combined with her grounded work ethic and artistic sensitivity, makes her a meaningful addition to the NRD community.

As she prepares for her move to Palm Springs, we are excited to welcome Rebecca into this next chapter and support her continued development as both an artist and educator. We look forward to the energy, compassion, and creativity she will bring to the studio and stage this season.

Please join us in welcoming Audrey Boulch to the Nickerson-Rossi Dance family! ✨

NRD first met Audrey during a residency at Western Oregon University , where she is graduating this year and has continued to distinguish herself through her dedication, artistry, and vibrant presence in the studio.

Audrey also trained at InMotion Performing Arts Studio , where she cultivated a strong technical foundation and developed her passion for performance and creative expression.

Throughout her collegiate training and performance experiences, Audrey has demonstrated a grounded artistic voice, thoughtful musicality, and an openness to collaboration that makes her stand out as both a performer and emerging artist. Her commitment to growth, professionalism, and authentic storytelling through movement reflects the values we deeply cherish within the NRD community.

Please join us in welcoming Téa Costello to the Nickerson-Rossi Dance family! ✨

Téa trained at the prestigious The Washington School of Ballet , where she developed a strong classical foundation, artistic discipline, and deep appreciation for movement artistry. She later graduated from Towson University with a BFA in Dance, continuing to expand her creative voice through performance, collaboration, and contemporary dance exploration.

Throughout her training and collegiate experience, Téa has demonstrated a thoughtful artistic presence, combining technical strength with expressive nuance and a genuine passion for storytelling through movement. Her dedication to growth, curiosity in the studio, and commitment to artistic excellence make her an exciting addition to our community.

We are thrilled to have Téa joining the apprenticeship program this summer and look forward to supporting her continued journey as an emerging artist. We cannot wait to see the artistry, perspective, and energy she will bring to the studio and stage.

Please join us in welcoming Paige Heilig to the Nickerson-Rossi Dance family! ✨

Paige joins us from the Grand Canyon University Dance Department , where she has continued to cultivate her artistry, creative voice, and passion for movement exploration. Her dedication to both performance and choreography has already distinguished her as an emerging artist with a compelling vision and strong creative presence.

Recently, Paige was awarded 1st Place at Nickerson-Rossi Dance’s DANCE PLATFORM, recognizing the originality, depth, and impact of her choreographic work. Her ability to create movement that is both dynamic and emotionally resonant made a lasting impression on audiences and adjudicators alike.

We are thrilled to announce that Paige will join the apprenticeship program this summer AND return in Fall 2026 to set an original work on the Nickerson-Rossi Dance Company. As both a choreographer and artist, she brings curiosity, collaboration, and a fresh creative perspective that we are excited to share with our dancers and community.
