July 7-11, 2027 - Join us in Palm Desert Paradise! 🌴 The Suvorovs acquired the competition in 2005 and expanded the number of events.

The Desert Classic DanceSport Championships was founded in 1999 as the Desert Classic DanceSport Festival--a one-day event. In 2009, the competition was granted "Championship" status by the National Dance Council of America (NDCA)

The Desert Classic offers over $90,000 in prize money--one of the largest prize purses in the country including a Professional Prize purse of $27,250, Pro/Am Scholarships & Prizes of $31,600 and a Top Teacher purse of $20,100.

Dance is an art form… but it is also a contact sport!

This is what is called an “all on.” Every couple is invited onto the floor at the same time for about 30 seconds so the judges and audience can see everyone side by side before splitting the round for safer dancing.

In this round, there were 14 couples—28 dancers—sharing the floor at once.

It’s beautiful chaos. You are navigating traffic, protecting your partner, being considerate of your surrounding competitors, staying musical, maintaining your technique, and making it look effortless is always the goal. The sportsmanship in these rounds are especially important.
