🔥 Something exciting may be coming to Palm Coast!

We're exploring the idea of opening a small, hands-on glass art academy for young creators!

Led by professional glass artist David Contreras, our goal is to introduce children to the fascinating world of glass art through creativity, color theory, science, and beginner lampworking techniques.

We're envisioning small classes where students can learn real artistic skills, explore a unique medium, and create something of their own.

We're still in the early planning stages and would love to hear from local families who might be interested!

✨ Interested in learning more?

Join our interest list to be among the first to hear about upcoming classes and enrollment details.

Every memorial that comes through our studio carries a story with it, and sometimes we have the opportunity to get to know a little more about the life behind the piece we’re creating.

One of our clients, Kelly, recently lost her beloved service dog, Sunshine, at only seven years old after a battle with cancer. Sunshine was by Kelly’s side as her service dog for five years, helping provide not only companionship, but safety, independence, and support throughout everyday life.

As we’ve gotten to know Kelly and learned more about Sunshine while working with her to create his memorial glass, it was very clear just how special their bond was. Losing him so young has left Kelly navigating both the grief of losing her best friend and the difficult reality of moving forward without the service dog she depended on.

Kelly has created a GoFundMe to help with the significant expenses from Sunshine’s illness and end-of-life care, as well as the long and costly process of eventually finding and training her next service dog.

We wanted to share her story with our community in case anyone feels led to help. Whether that means donating, sharing her fundraiser, or simply keeping Kelly in your thoughts as she moves through this incredibly difficult season, every bit of support matters.

Sunshine was deeply loved, and we feel honored that Kelly trusted David to create something from his cremains that will allow her to carry a piece of him with her as she moves forward. 🤍✨

You can read more about Kelly and Sunshine’s story or support her here:

If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing Kelly and Sunshine’s story can be a wonderful way to help.

We’ve been quietly working on something new, and we’re so excited to finally share it with you. ✨

Many of you know David for the memorial glass he creates, but his story as a glass artist began long before that. Since 2006, he has been exploring the endless possibilities of borosilicate glass - from his years creating and selling artwork at Pike Place Market to the studio he now works from in North Florida.

We’re excited to re-introduce DC Glass Seattle, a new home for David’s non-memorial artwork. The name honors his Seattle roots and the place where so much of his artistic journey took shape.

This collection features one-of-a-kind glass marbles, pendants, sea-life sculptures, colorful dichroic designs, gold and silver fuming, opals, and experimental pieces created simply for the love of the art.

Every piece is individually handmade, and no two will ever be exactly alike. This is where David continues to experiment, challenge himself, and share the creative side of glass that first inspired his career.

We’ll be introducing more pieces in the coming days, and the first collection is now available through our Etsy shop. We can’t wait for you to see this side of David’s work. 💙

Some memorials are meant to stay in a special place at home. Others are made to be worn, held or carried with you. Our new cremation memorial sets were created to offer both.

Each set brings together coordinating pieces, with your loved one’s cremated remains carefully incorporated into each one. A marble can remain at home while a pendant travels with you, or the pieces can be shared between family members as a lasting connection.

Our new Dichro Rainbow Trio offers three ways to keep them close — a marble for home, a smooth touchstone to hold or carry and a teardrop pendant to wear or share.

Sets are available in several of David’s designs and more options will be arriving soon. When purchased together, each set includes a $100 savings.

Want to mix and match your own set? Reach out and let us know which pieces you have in mind. We can customize the options to create a combination that works for you and your family.

One of the things I've learned over the years is that when families begin looking for a memorial artist, they often have the same questions.

How much cremated remains are needed? Can multiple family members share them? What if I live out of state? How do I know who to trust?

Instead of answering these one by one, I thought it would be helpful to put them all together in our latest Beyond the Urn article.

If you're exploring memorial options for a loved one or simply curious about the process, I hope it helps answer some of the questions you may have.

Today, we're sharing something a little different.

Over the past several weeks, our Beyond the Urn series has focused on the families we've had the privilege of serving and the stories behind the memorials we create. Many of you have reached out wanting to know more about the artist behind every piece.

So today, we pulled up a couple of chairs in the studio.

In this candid conversation, David shares how a chance introduction to glassblowing changed the course of his life, the years he spent learning his craft, his journey through Seattle's Pike Place Market, and how creating memorial glass became something far greater than making art.

If you've ever wondered who creates these memorials and what inspires him every day, we hope you'll take a few minutes to read his story.

What if there isn’t a “right” way to remember someone you love?

After losing someone, it’s easy to wonder if you’re making the right decisions.

Should you keep an urn?

Scatter their cremated remains?

Create a keepsake?

Plant a tree?

Carry them close on life’s adventures?

The truth is, remembrance isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Every life is different.

Every relationship is unique.

Every journey through grief is deeply personal.

Our newest Beyond the Urn article explores the many beautiful ways families choose to honor the people they love and offers one simple reminder:

There is no right way to remember. There is only the way that brings peace to your heart.

If this message speaks to you or someone you know, we invite you to read the full story on our website.

Because love doesn’t end with goodbye. It continues in the stories we tell, the traditions we create, and the memories we carry forward. 🤍

If you had just one paragraph to describe someone you love, what would you say?

Would you talk about their favorite fishing spot?
The way they sang along to every song on the radio?

Their love of science, travel, or the ocean?

Or maybe it would be something no one else would think to mention... the little thing that instantly makes you smile whenever you think of them.

Those are often the stories that matter most.

Our next Beyond the Urn article explores how the smallest details can become the most meaningful part of honoring a life. 🤍✨
