A Message to the DJs Who Keep Preaching “My Way Is the Right Way”
Every week, the timeline fills up with DJs posting videos telling everyone how good they are…how everyone else is doing it wrong…how the “real way” is their way…and how the rest of the culture needs to follow their blueprint.
Let’s be for a moment — there is a client for every style.
There’s a client for the high‑end luxury DJ who brings the full production. There’s a client for the low‑budget DJ who just wants to make people dance. There’s a client for the scratch nerd, the club rocker, the wedding specialist, the line‑dance king, the crate‑digging purist, the TikTok transition wizard Yes! all of them.
So when DJs jump online and tell the world that their way is the only way…or that other DJs are “cheesy”…or that playing line dances makes someone “less professional”…they’re not elevating the culture — they’re shrinking it.
The truth is simple: No matter how hard someone promotes themselves, no matter how many videos they post, no matter how loud they shout that they’re the best — the client will choose the DJ that fits their vibe, not yours, not ours, not anyone else’s. Just there's!
You can’t convince the world to want what you offer. You can only serve the people who already do.
And that’s the beauty of DJ culture — it’s wide, it’s diverse, it’s messy, it’s creative, and it belongs to everybody.
So instead of tearing down other DJs…instead of trying to “correct” the entire industry…instead of preaching from a phone camera like you’re the authority on all things.
Focus on your lane. Build your craft. Serve your clients. Let the rest of the culture breathe.
At the end of the day, every DJ has their lane and every client has their taste. So stop preaching, stop judging, and just do your job. The right people will find you — and the rest were never yours to begin with.
