Welcome to my studio! I am currently taking commissions for pet portraits in oil paint. Price is $1.25 per square inch of canvas plus shipping. Although I am willing to deliver within 75 miles of Painesville, OH for a small fee. I accept PayPal or Venmo but you must cover fees. Personal check or cash also welcome.

I paint from a photo and if you are within 75 miles of Painesville I can drive to you for a photo shoot. Or if you already have a favorite photo or can take one yourself there are a few guidelines. First, NO flash. Flash photography makes for poor photos as well as paintings. Photograph outside if possible or near a window. (Note: Photograph white pets in the shade and black pets in the sun.) Second, cannot be dark and/or blurry. The more detail I can see the better the painting. Third, get down to the level of your pet. Makes for a much more intimate portrait. Fourth, focus on the eyes. Get a clear shot of their eyes - most important aspect of a portrait! (Unless they’re closed of course LOL). And fifth, the better (clearer, brighter, sharper) the photo, the bigger the painting can be.

Sizes range from 8x10, 10x10, 9x12, 12x12, 11x14, 12x16 plus any larger size canvas that can be found in an art store.

One last thing: As it is already late in the year I cannot guarantee delivery by Christmas this year. Oil paintings take much longer to “dry,” and need to go through a process called “oiling out” in order to create an even sheen across the painting. (Dark colors tend to “sink” and go flat). Oiling out sometimes needs to be repeated a few times and several days to a week to dry in between. Then I apply a final varnish to protect the painting. To be safe, I can not guarantee delivery before 6 weeks.
