Mark your calendars for our annual Storybook Nutcracker! 🩰🎄✨

The cast has been set and we are so excited to announce our cast and classes that will bring this whimsical story to life!

We are incredibly proud of all of our dancers who auditioned this year. Our auditions were filled with so much talent, enthusiasm, and heart, and we were truly blown away. Congratulations to our dancers who earned a special role!

We are already hard at work with choreography and the magic is beginning to unfold. It is an honor to bring this holiday tradition back to our amazing community and we hope you will join us for one (or both) of the following performances at Pagosa Springs High School:

Friday, December 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m.

Once again, we will be serving up a fun and delicious pancake breakfast before our Saturday performance. Breakfast will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Bring your family and friends and let us transport you into a magical world of dancing snowflakes, toy soldiers, sweet treats, and holiday wonder.

Tickets go on sale November 1!!!

PSDA is more than a place to take dance classes.

As a nonprofit dance academy, we create opportunities for local youth at every stage—from discovering dance for the first time to performing, competing, developing leadership skills, and pursuing advanced training.

Through dance, students build confidence, discipline, creativity, friendships, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. Whether they dance recreationally or hope to pursue dance in the future, we want every student to have a place to begin, belong, perform, and grow.

This is who we are. This is how we support local youth through dance💙

We want to hear from you!

Clear and open communication helps ensure that PSDA families have access to accurate information. It also helps us understand concerns, learn from your feedback, and continue strengthening our programs and organization.

We now have a Parent Questions, Concerns & Feedback form available on our website. You may include your contact information if you would like a direct response, or submit the form anonymously.

Anonymous questions may be addressed in a future newsletter or social media Q&A without sharing any identifying information. If one person has a question or concern, there is a good chance other families are wondering the same thing!

Visit our website to find the new form and share your questions, concerns, or feedback.

Part of what makes PSDA unique is that we don’t only teach students how to dance, we create pathways for them to become leaders and empower them with skills they can use to financially support themselves.

Pictured are our two current Student Teachers, Avonlea Thomas and Faith Lee. Both have met the program criteria and received board approval to advance into this role.

Our structured Student Teacher Pathway includes experiences such as class assisting, observing a variety of classes and instructors, working with a staff mentor, developing lesson plans, and gaining hands-on teaching experience with supervision and feedback.

This pathway is a direct reflection of our nonprofit mission. We want to empower the youth in our studio to pursue meaningful leadership opportunities while developing confidence, responsibility, communication skills, and other life skills they can carry beyond the studio and use throughout adulthood.

We hope young leaders that pursue leadership opportunities through our studio will someday share their knowledge and love of dance—whether they continue teaching at PSDA or bring their skills to studios wherever life takes them.

This is how dance becomes more than movement. It becomes a pathway to leadership and career-building life skills. 💙

✨ **Meet Miss Dee!** ✨

Ballet is an integral part of dance training, building the technique, strength, alignment, and discipline that carry into so many other styles. 🩰

And there’s a new opportunity to add more ballet to your dancer’s week! **Miss Dee’s Saturday Ballet class is now open to beginner ballet students ages 9+**, giving more dancers the chance to build a strong ballet foundation while learning from her decades of experience.

Classes can be added through **October 15**.
