If you are in the Pacific area and looking for something to do today, stop by Tri-County Senior Center for a Community Potluck luncheon! There will be plenty of good food, a raffle for lots of amazing prizes (one of which is a custom pet portrait by yours truly 😉), a silent auction, and wonderful company! Amidst the chaos that has been major car trouble, fighting ai data centers, trying to start a garden, conferences, and a teen with a lead foot, on top of concerns about dad, I have admittedly fallen behind on my monthly pet commitment to Franklin County Humane Society! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Well, thankfully spring break has given me a chance to take a breath and get some artwork done! Doc Brown’s portrait is all done and just a reminder, it is free to anyone who can give this kitty a nice forever home! Well, Mr. January is all done for my monthly pet portrait for Franklin County Humane Society!
Inspired by Flint’s love of playing in the snow and our recent snowy weather💕🐾❄️☃️
Don’t forget! You can still adopt Flint! He is waiting for you to be his forever friend💕🐾
Even if you can’t adopt, they let you take him on outings and I can tell you that he is the best boy and appreciates them!

So this was a LOT of firsts for me in my little experiment for a recent client! I love it when clients say “do whatever you want!” But I gotta admit, it makes me soooo nervous because I never know if I’m going to make them happy with the end result 😬 This was the first time I’ve ever tried to combine graphite drawing with watercolor. The first time I’ve tried to capture very delicate, elderly skin in graphite. The first time I’ve used my metallic watercolors for a client (and there’s a ton of metallic in this hence the multiple angle shots). 😂 All in all, I kinda liked the results. Maybe I’ll combine graphite with watercolor more often.

This is based on a photo of the client holding her mothers hand (who she had lost recently). She called her mom her “north star.” Needless to say, it hit home while creating this and not gonna lie, there might be some tears in there with that watercolor 😬 But while an emotional piece for me, it was something I did enjoy and she was happy with it too💕

Ok, so I promised y’all I’d let ya know what my big plans are with the Franklin County Humane Society. So here goes…I wanted to find a way to help local shelter animals. So I offered to paint a “pet of the month” for FCHS every month for free and give the painting to whoever adopted the pet of the month. THEN once we have a full year of pet portraits, I offered them up to FCHS to create a calendar out of them that they can sell as a fundraiser. So if any of my friends out there know of someone that does printed calendars and would like to work with FCHS to make that happen, let me know!

So…our first Pet of the Month:
Meet Flint!!! He’s a 4 year old mix breed and I’m telling you guys, I got to spend some time with him today and I have no idea why he gets passed over! He’s been at the shelter for over a year now and I’m telling you, he is the sweetest love bug, laid back, and has the best personality! If you get a chance, check him out on their website to learn more about him and let’s get this handsome, sweet boy a forever family!

I’ll post his portrait by the end of the month!
