The ritual
The cutter bites, the blade comes clean, a seal to break, a valve between the leaf and flame the night turns slow, the ember learns that embers know. The match strikes once the sulfur fades, a careful toast and careful shades, the foot glows red the tip draws near, the first thick breath of smoke appear. Now draw it slow and hold it long, the gray is thins the room grow song, the ash builds white, a patient's fine that holds its form, then breaks the line. The night grows deep, the ash falls free, a quiet Grace and what will be. The smoke unwinds like time undone, the last slow burn beneath the sun. And when the band is warm to touch, when Ash and amber mean as much. As any word a man could say the ritual bows, and turns away. But not quite gone this scent remains, to***co, leather quiet rains, tomorrow brings its fire and steel, tonight the leaf taught me to feel.

The Architecture of Echoes: Why Nothing Is Truly Wasted We love to say it when the dust settles: Everything happens for a reason. It is the universal security blanket of the human narrative.
