Reeled Ink

Gyotaku is a Japanese print making method originated in the mid 1800’s to authenticate a fisherman’s bounty. Nicole presently teaches art and color theory.

Pigment is applied directly to a fish and then pressed with rice paper to reveal its intricacies and anatomical beauty. Nicole Salva holds a master’s degree in fine art and a bachelor’s degree in illustration. Nicole has been civically commissioned and has had several art exhibits that have subsequently earned her numerous awards.
