🏈 It’s game time!!!

⚠️ Owyhee’s NEW little league football info ⚠️

As you may have heard, the Elko Junior Football League transitioned to Pop Warner this year, which requires larger rosters and 11-man football. Unfortunately, that wasn’t a good fit for our small teams.

Instead, Owyhee has joined several other rural communities to create a new 8-man youth football league, giving our kids the opportunity to play the same style of football they’ll experience in high school while continuing to compete against other 1A schools throughout Nevada.

There will be two divisions:
🏈 3rd-5th Grade
🏈 6th-8th Grade

Participating communities include Eureka, White Pine, Tonopah, Round Mountain, Alamo, and Beatty, with games being held at central locations whenever possible to help reduce travel for everyone.

**Sign-ups are open NOW through Friday, July 17 at 5:00 PM**

At this point we’re trying to get an accurate player count to make sure we have enough athletes for each division. If your child is interested in participating, please contact DeMe or Macee to get them on the list. We will know by Friday if we have enough for each division. Schedules, coaches and start date are TBD.

The Shoshone-Paiute Tribes HDC Recreation Program hosted a co-ed youth and adult basketball league from March to May 2026 in Owyhee, Nevada.
The league had grade divisions that ranged from Head Start/PreK-Kindergarten, 1st-3rd, 4th-6th, 7th-9th, and 10th-adults.
The games were played twice a week, bringing together players, families, and community members for some good ole rezball competition.
The teams were competitive and games were exciting. Recreation staff members observed tremendous growth in each player’s skills and a boost in their confidence. They had great teamwork, sportsmanship, respect for their fellow peers, and had loads of fun. That’s what truly made it all worthwhile, for the Rec. staff.
Additionally, the league provided local groups and teams with fundraising opportunities through concession and raffle sales.
Rec. would like to give a special shoutout to all parents and guardians for their continued support and dedication throughout this league season. Rec. would also like to thank the adult participants and those who assisted with coaching, refereeing, taking books, running the clock, making trash runs, etc. Your time, effort, and commitment played a huge role in making the league a meaningful and successful experience for everyone, especially the youth.
(I’d personally like to thank my crew Macee, Kaylani, and Lance Dick Jr. for the care you’ve shown, the sacrifices you’ve made, and for always going above and beyond, each and every day!! - DeMe)
Great job everyone!!

Rec. ended the league with a single-elimination tournament. Please see the results below:
