Jude turned 16! 🎉 🥳 🎁
It has been a pretty wild year for him, full of ups and downs, but no matter what kind of stress or struggle he’s going through, he will always stop everything and smile and laugh at one of his cats. Thank God for cats.
This year we took control over the pace Jude’s life was moving at.
Ever since his autism diagnosis at 2, it has been: ‘hurry up and learn this and that and catch up to the crowd, take every class and therapy and fill every waking moment working to fit in.’
When he made it to high school and was able to take all standard courses and pass them with good grades, it felt like the work had finally started paying off. But it wasnt enough and the cost was unsustainable.
(If you want to know the whole story dm me bc it’s a lot)
About 2 months ago I took Jude out of public school and started homeschooling him. It’s not something I ever wanted to do, but it felt like I didn’t have a choice. It has been challenging, but SO wonderful at the same time.
So now that he’s 16 we’re not rushing out to get his drivers license or a job or a car, but those things feel like they will happen at the right time and pace and when they do he will be ready. ❤️
