Celebrate Creativity Through Hip Hop Culture!
Led by Owner/Director SugEasy, Break Free Kansas City is bringing authentic Hip Hop knowledge to the community through weekly Breaking and DJing classes. Our school also teaches about Hip Hop history and promotes the movement’s values of peace, love, unity and having fun.
Break Free Kansas City is all about creating a love for dance and a passion for music within our students. During Breakin’ classes, our mission starts with teaching them to feel the rhythms around them and to catch that bounce and rock so they move on the beat...while learning the foundations and fundamental steps of Breakin. This way we are able to help everyone learn to freestyle and show their own creativity as they first learn to feel the music--and then start to put the different steps together to express themselves on the dance floor.
This is true in our DJing studio as well, where students first learn to feel the rhythm and count/match the beats. Then they learn to mix tracks using vinyl before getting into DJing computer programs. This builds a love of music and an understanding of different beats and tempos--which helps create a stronger foundation for mixing, blending, improvising, and producing all new sounds.
