Finished another painting for my “At the Lake Series!” It’s of me and my cousins jumping off a pontoon circa 1995. So much joy in one picture! 🥹🥹🥹

I’ll be dropping this one off at InterUrban for their 12x12 show. Come check out the Opening Reception and Arts of Fire Fundraising Event on October 16, 5-9pm!

Well, this painting was a struggle from start to finish. Even turning it around was hard! It’s done for now, maybe I’ll come back to it after I’ve had some time to cool off. Let me know what you think!

Here’s where it all began 💛 My first of many trips to Lake Carlos in Minnesota—where my family spent every Fourth of July and celebrated my birthday each summer. Pictured here: my Grandma Betty, me, and my cousins Jade and Nicole.

As I got older, my parents would drop me off for weeks at a time, and I’d always come home with the best memories (and more mosquito bites than I could count).

P.S. If you know Grandma Betty… keep this our little secret—it’s her birthday present! 🎁

While this series will mostly feature large-scale portraits, I also wanted to include a few smaller paintings inspired by my old childhood photos. There’s something special about revisiting those memories — sun-bleached colors, grainy film, carefree summers. I’m hoping my own little slice of ‘90s nostalgia sparks something familiar for you too. What do you think?

I finished another painting for my “At the Lake” series! I tried to capture the quiet contemplation of someone surrounded by loud fireworks and family. A moment of peace among the chaos of the Fourth of July.

The end of a lake day is the best. Sunburned, tired, smelling like sunscreen, way too full from burgers and potato salad—and even fuller from time with family and friends. Or is it just me?
