Hi, Art Explorers! I hope you'll find something useful on my page that might inspire you or your kids to make art.

My videos are made especially for the students at my school in Overland Park, KS, but I hope that they'll resonate with everyone.

My kindergarteners did such a great job on their imagined farm landscapes! Crops of pigs, cotton candy, pizza, flowers, you name it, we drew then painted it. ❤️🖼️

My kindergarten, first and second graders learned about realistic vs. abstract art and symmetry today at my museum classes. We looked at art in the Nerman’s collection and made symmetrical bug collages over painted backgrounds. Love ‘em! 🎨🐞🪲

Mama mia! These kindergarten pizzas look good enough to eat! We read “Pete’s A Pizza” and talked about using our imaginations to make pretend pizzas with painted collage paper. Mangia. 🤌🏻

Sweetest little kinder hats! We talked about texture and used forks to make our pompons and brims and pattern to make our hats. Lots of gluing and cutting practice, too. ❄️

We’re using clay next week and I’m tying ancient Greco-Roman history to contemporary artist Roberto Lugo. I turned my door into a kind of anticipatory set and kids have loved it. 🏛️

I’m so in love with these first grade texture trees! We looked at pictures of fall trees for inspiration and talked about color families. We used sponges for the leaves. I ❤️ Fall projects. 🍁

Our first week of school is in the books! Kinder and first grade jumped right in to painting after reading the book A Beautiful Oops! Everyone got a piece of “oops” paper and primary colors. After a quick talk about how to use their paintbrushes, my young artists helped make our first collaborative bulletin board. Hooray! (I precut old messy mats and unclaimed art into 8x8, 8x4 or 4x4 sheets.)
