Exciting news from About Those Books! We're delighted to introduce our newest venture, Kansas Book Depository.

While About Those Books continues to bring collectible, vintage, and antiquarian books to readers and collectors, Kansas Book Depository focuses on the other side of the story—helping individuals, families, estates, and organizations evaluate, preserve, and thoughtfully rehome their collections.

We invite our ATB friends to follow Kansas Book Depository and join us as we share discoveries, stories, and the next chapter of our journey!

Through our work with About Those Books, we kept returning to a question: what happens when a collection is ready to leave its original home?

This year, that question took on a new scale when we acquired the inventory of Oddfellow’s Fine Books in Topeka—thousands of books, maps, prints, and reference materials entrusted to our care.

Kansas Book Depository grew from that work: a regional home in Overland Park where collections can receive thoughtful attention and find their next home.

We’ll share what we discover along the way—the unexpected inscription, the detail in an old map, the stories waiting between the covers. We hope you’ll follow along.

Have a collection to discuss? Call (913) 777-4337. Visits are by appointment, and we make house calls.

📖✨ A remarkable piece of spiritual history has come into our hands.

We are honored to share one of the most extraordinary volumes we’ve ever encountered: a 1929 Edition of "Whispers from Eternity" by Swami Yogananda.

What makes this copy truly extraordinary is a long, handwritten inscription, composed in Yogananda’s own flowing script and dated July 21, 1933. This is not a quotation from the text, but an original spiritual instruction, written during a time when he personally guided small groups of seekers at Mount Washington.

“Comingle your inner whispers with these and offer these in the temple of Silence and Activity until you hear His Voice loudly everywhere.”

Breathtaking in its tenderness and depth — a moment of direct transmission from a teacher whose influence continues to touch millions. Yogananda’s teachings on meditation, divine communion, and inner stillness helped shape the landscape of spiritual practice in America, and his early signed works are exceedingly rare.

We’ve placed this extraordinary book in our eBay store, and in gratitude for its sacred presence, 10% of the proceeds will support the Himalayan Institute.

📖✨ A remarkable piece of spiritual history has come into our hands.

We are honored to share one of the most extraordinary volumes we’ve ever encountered: a 1929 Second Enlarged Edition of Whispers from Eternity by Swami Yogananda. Published by Yogoda and Sat-Sanga in Los Angeles, this early edition reflects the foundational period of his mission to bring India’s ancient science of meditation to the West.

What makes this copy truly extraordinary is a long, handwritten devotional blessing, composed in Yogananda’s own flowing script and dated July 21, 1933. It is not a quotation from the text but an original spiritual instruction, written during a time when he personally guided small groups of seekers at Mount Washington.

“Comingle your inner whispers with these and offer these in the temple of Silence and Activity until you hear His Voice loudly everywhere.”

The blessing is breathtaking in its tenderness and depth — a moment of direct transmission from a teacher whose influence continues to touch millions. Yogananda’s teachings on meditation, divine communion, and inner stillness helped shape the landscape of spiritual practice in America, and his early signed works are exceedingly rare.

This volume is a powerful reminder of the enduring reach of his message: that the Divine can be experienced through inner stillness, devotion, and disciplined meditation.

We are humbled to steward such a sacred piece and will be offering it soon.
