Ouray Mountain Air Music Series

Ouray Mountain Air Music Series Ouray's free concert series in Fellin Park. Every Thursday in June featuring 3 different bands. Mountain Air Music, Inc.
(1)

These free events (Thursdays in June 6-9 pm) are a wonderful way for the entire Ouray community and families of all ages to enjoy great music, warm evenings and picnics in Fellin Park at Ouray’s favorite outdoor event. All of the bands that perform at the Mountain Air Music Series share a passion for music and commitment to small communities, as do our sponsors. Each Thursday, two different emergi

ng bands with unique styles are presented. The featured musicians attract their own audience of loyal followers as well as a wide variety of music lovers in the community and throughout the region. Regardless of each week’s music genre, a core following of the Western Slope Concert Series, which includes the Ridgway Concert Series in July and Pickin' in the Park in Paonia in August comes to Ouray to enjoy a summer filled with free music. Each week, we bring awareness to local nonprofit organizations like the Ouray Public Library. Each week, you will find a different nonprofit in the beer tent serving up libations and working for tip money. All the tip proceeds are given to these nonprofit organizations as a contribution to their causes. You’ll also find local restaurants serving up their signature menu items as food vendors fill the park each week. Everything from kettle corn to smoked ribs and ice cream to hot chocolate is available each week. Bringing the entire community together at these family-friendly concerts is our core value. Local event-lovers are encouraged to volunteer each week of the series, and we are always looking for in-kind donations. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to organizing and promoting the economic performances, events and programs and supporting the development of public facilities in Ouray, to further the community’s engagement with the arts. Over the past three years, we have contributed to improve Fellin Park’s public facilities. We have partnered with the City of Ouray’s Parks and Recreation and Beautification Committees to upgrade the Fellin Park’s electrical infrastructure and we are currently saving funds to build a permanent stage for our park. Over the course of the upcoming years, our goals will focus on establishing a Music Education Scholarship.

Over the years, Cruz has appeared on nationally broadcasted television, his music has been lauded by outlets and as an independent artist has played Nashville’s lauded Grand Ole Opry 40 times over the years. Contreras is currently on the road performing his debut solo album, Cosmico, as well as his extensive Black Lillies catalog.

Coming up on Thursday, June 18! Sweet Lizzy Project with Sara Jean Kelley! This FREE concert in Ouray starts at 6 pm- food trucks on site and beer, wine and cocktails available for purchase

In just a few years, Cuban-born, Nashville-based quartet Sweet Lizzy Project has gone from its members never having been in an arena, to mesmerizing an audience of 20,000 people when opening for their idols, Heart and Joan Jett. Along the way, the anthemic rock band earned a prime performance broadcast for PBS’s Havana Time Machine, an artist profile on NPR’s “Weekend Edition”, and a cover story in the Miami Herald.

SLP defected to the U.S. from Cuba in late 2017, just as the border doors were set to close once again. Prior to relocating to Music City, Sweet Lizzy Project became the “it band” around Havana City clubs. SLP also won several music prizes, including two nominations for Cuba’s closest equivalent of a Grammy. However, everything changed for the band when they were spotlighted on Havana Time Machine, which also featured traditional Cuban artists and iconic American roots-rockers, The Mavericks. During the making of the documentary, The Mavericks’ founder and lead singer, Raul Malo, became inspired by Sweet Lizzy’s music and story and signed SLP to his band’s record company.

Sweet Lizzy Project plays electrifying big stage pop-rock with a modern sheen and classic rock heart. Diaz is a lightning bolt of a front woman; her lyrics are boldly vulnerable, and her vocals range from seductive soft tones to rafter-rattling high tones. Her creative partner is world class engineer/producer, songwriter, background vocalist, and dazzling lead guitarist Miguel Comas. Diaz and Comas are joined in Sweet Lizzy Project by talented guitarist and bass player, Wilfredo Gatell, and skilled drummer Angel Luis Millet.

SLP has three albums: Heaven (2015), Technicolor (2020) and Pirate Radio / Radio Pirata (2022). The band has performed in the US, coast to coast, and has opened shows for acts such as Heart, Joan Jett, Johnny Swim, The Mavericks, Raul Malo, Jamey Johnson, Buckcherry, Billy Strings, Silvana Estrada and Carlos Varela.

The release of their latest album, Pirate Radio / Radio Pirata, received immediate DSP support, with key playlist adds across New Release, Rock & Latin playlists on Spotify and Apple Music, as well as airplay from multiple terrestrial stations and The Latin Alternative, widely syndicated among NPR affiliates. Their Fall Pirate Radio Tour included concerts in Nashville, Miami, Atlanta, New York, Washington DC, Austin, Houston, and festivals like Live on the Green (Nashville, TN), RiverBend (Chattanooga, TN) and Mile Of Music (Appleton, WI).

A lover of wild things— plants, animals, people, and music— Nashville native Sara Jean Kelley crafts songs that combine upbeat, pop-inspired country hooks with thoughtful, often philosophical lyrical themes that explore our human connection to the natural world. Due to her dark sensibility and slightly melancholic sense of humor, Kelley’s particular brand of alternative country is multidimensional, with one foot firmly rooted in her Nashville Country/Americana background, another foot exploring the realms of alternative rock, rock and roll, pop, and even hip hop influences. Her voice, at times husky, dark and sultry, at times floating light-as-a-feather, has been compared to celebrated female country stars Brandi Carlisle, Patti Griffin, and Lucinda Williams. She’s opened for country music icons Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, and her songwriting reveals a clear, intuitive understanding of what makes a song work
