Wild Crafted Silversmithing: Metal Work in the foothills.
There are no pristine white walls, or the humming of air conditioners and no high tech laser welders. Our studio has dirt floors, open air, and a view that looks straight into the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Tucked in the hollar, we work alongside the steady rhythm of the nearby rushing creek just feet away, beneath the thick canopy of the trees. Here, the tools carry the honest patina of hard work, sometimes rusty, always well loved and entirely capable of creating something beautiful.
Our property works and runs completely off grid at the moment so it may feel and look a little different than a “traditional” neighborhood homestead. It is a working, self sustaining space shaped by the land itself.
Because we are down in the hollar and fully open to the elements, summer months in the studio can get you sticky, and hot, so you will likely
sweat right along with the torch. To keep you going, I will always have a few cold waters and a few snacks, but you are more than welcome to bring your favorites for yourself.
If you want to learn the ancient, tactile art of smithing, with the mountain breeze on your face and your feet firmly rooted in the earth, you have found your anvil.
Come get your hands dirty, leave the modern noise behind and create something beautiful with us here at Coyote Valley Art Farm in Otto, NC
See you at the Anvil,
Shannon and Robert
