Bridge Street Run 2011

Bridge Street Run 2011 The official website for the Bridge Street Run. An Oswego Tradition! As legend has it, a small group of students started the tradition in the early 1960’s.

Each May, local college students participate in a pub crawl held in Oswego, NY known as the “Bridge Street Run.” The event takes place on the last Friday before the start of the spring semester’s final exam week for SUNY Oswego. Participants visit each of the 15 different bars located on or near Bridge Street. Hundreds of people wearing white t-shirts line the two-mile route. Those taking part in

the run wear their shirts and carry a permanent marker. Important information can be written on the t-shirt: beers consumed, shots, bars attended, kisses and whatever else feels necessary to keep track of. These shirts can be signed by friends and fellow Bridge Street Runners along the way. Many current students and former participants from over the years have considered the Bridge Street Run to contain some of the greatest moments of their college careers. Part of the fun is getting your t-shirt signed by friends (and sometimes teachers!). The shirts become a prized memento, capturing memories that would otherwise be forgotten during the day’s festivities.
