Art with Coffee: Suncatchers and Plant Sticks
Saturday, June 27, 10 am–noon
Instructor: Leanne Gillen

Suncatchers and Plant Sticks to brighten up your plants inside or outside!

We will be shaping and hammering texture on copper wire. Then we will add brightly colored beads and dangles for movement and to catch the light. All materials and tools needed will be provided during class.

No need to register; just come! This is a first-come, first-served class. Fee: $15 per participant, and all supplies will be provided.

Instructor: Cris Metcalf

Loosen up and get creative! In this class, we will be using just three colors and big brushes to create loose, harmonious paintings quickly. You will love the results!

No need to register; just come! This is a first-come, first-served class. Class size limit is 10 to 11 people. Fee: $15 per participant, and all supplies will be provided.

Art with Coffee: Beginning Watercolor Painting: Basics

This class will give you an opportunity to learn and/or review the foundational basics of watercolor and some of its unique characteristics, as well as actually enjoying the “ups and downs” of the process.

Potter’s Wheel for Beginners: June/July
Instructors: Marybeth Sorendo and Antonia Cantu

June 7–July 12
Sundays, 4–6:30 pm

AAO Members: $250
Non-members: $290

Please note: Payment is due 1 week before the first class.

This class will introduce students to the potter's wheel: preparing clay, learning to center, and creating a cylinder. Once a cylinder is achieved, students will learn about basic utilitarian shapes through demonstrations. Students will also learn about drying clay properly, trimming the base of pots, kiln firing, and basic glazing techniques. Students who have taken one class are welcome to continue in order to improve their wheel skills.

Art with Coffee: Water Marbling
Instructor: Theresa Bower

Come have some fun with water marbling! Water marbling has been around for centuries, used primarily for decorative paper and fabrics. This is an easy, but messy process, where you will float thinned acrylic paint on water thickened with carrageenan (a non toxic algae used in this process), and lay paper and other objects on the surface to create your designs.

In this session, you will marble some sheets of paper, a paper fan, and a wooden flower. Come join the group and see what designs you can create.

Note: Due to the space needed for this process, this class will be limited to 8 people.

$15 per participant
