During the classes, participants learn the process of making jewelry using Bronze Metal Clay. Students need no previous knowledge or experience and will have lots of fun creating stunning pieces.
Metal Clay is a unique crafting medium made from microscopic metal particles mixed with an organic binder and water. It’s easy to use, fun, non-toxic and is safe to work with one’s hands.
Originating in Japan in 1990, metal clay can be shaped just like any soft clay, by hand or using molds. After drying, the clay can be fired in a variety of ways such as in a kiln, with a handheld gas torch, or on a gas stove, depending on the type of clay and the metal in it. The binder burns away, leaving the pure sintered metal. Shrinkage of between 8% and 10%.

Her capacity to bring her audience and community to tears is like none other. She also causes us all to laugh and delight in the human reality that we all find ourselves moving through. Ladies of Hip-Hop Festival Public Show and Tell - Led by Executive Director Michele Byrd-McPhee and Trustee LaTasha Barnes, this intersectional project incubated and captured the knowledge, beauty, and power of Black female street dancers commissioned by Works & Process at the Guggenheim, and co-produced by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. We are honored to have partnered with the OUFSD in bringing the 2nd grade classes to Bethany for our Black History Month Exhibit on display until March 12. The MBK Scholars and Prestigious Ladies of Power were perfect Docents and role models. We couldn’t be prouder of the amazing job they did.
Incredible glimpse into new work by Brian “HallowDreamz” Henry and his team. Inside peek tonight at Wicked Bodies! We have loved having Liz Lerman and her company in residency at Bethany these past two weeks! This is one of the last residencies to occur before the piece premieres in April 2022 and the first time the group will be together since January 2020. Wicked Bodies asks why is some knowledge celebrated, some criminalized, and some erased altogether? And who gets to document, describe and save the remnants? In the presence of magic both old and new, and a surprising collection of witches, audiences will make their way through a restless story and a smashing of worlds.
Bee there!! 🐝🐝🐝 Dec 3rd at 7pm! Tickets: www.bethanyarts.org/product/fundraiser2021 Please support Bethany’s growing programming, studios, workshops and the artists who have found Bethany to be nurturing and inspiring, a welcoming place where they can grow.
Bethany Arts Community was born from a vision of creating a community of artists that not only interacts with each other but with the community as a whole, locally and globally. Bethany Arts Community is a place where the established artist can tap into the potential that resides within, the new artist can continue to find their creative voice and the beginner (including the “I am not an artist”) can learn and grow. Bethany is a place where all levels of artists can gather to help each other and each other’s art flourish. We are focused on enhancing the creative process. Please follow what’s going on at Bethany and join in. Thank you for your support!
