I lacquered a bunch of teeny tiny driftwood handles today and some of the larger pieces as well but I ran out of lacquer so I made these two tiny solstice driftwood sweeps waiting to have their caps woven. I feel like my grid has been kind of quiet and perhaps it has something to do with how travel/faire season really breaks up my work flow. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately as I try to manage a million things simultaneously. Anyhow sweet sweet driftwood sweeps will be available in my update 7/26 6pm EST

Since I had a lot of fun at the shop taking photos and not making brooms on Friday I brought home some mini handles for painting. I highly recommend not painting in your living room couch if you happen to like it 😜 or you know put down some towels or something that can get dirty with no consequences

I started making brooms shortly before my 35th birthday, started belly dancing at 38, and took the leap and dove into burlesque at 39. I will be 40 in a few short days and I don’t think I’ve ever been more unapologetically myself. I’m so grateful my path brought me brooms, belly dance, and burlesque! These three things have changed my life in so many different ways. One of which being, allowing someone to take my photo and not crying after (there is a solid difference between selfies and having other people snap photos 😜) It was nice to be able to let go of that fear and have fun tapping into some dark whimsy in the shop today 🖤

Though things have been quiet over here as I slipped into the new year I promise I am preparing for the Love You To Death virtual market. So I hope you enjoy this snowy little sneak peak of that black fern on this crazy limited amount of pink that has my heart all a flutter.

And yes that broom is hanging up in the shop in front of a fan drying and is why you get a sneak peak and not the collection of florals right now 🖤

Each of these piles is an in person even I worked last year (numbered ones are weekends in longer runs like Ren faires.) I use perforated price tags so I can snap off my half to keep records just incase I’m in an area where I have spotty or no access to internet so I can update my numbers accordingly. I was actually really proud that I managed to keep everything in one spot and not spread them out in pockets baggies cups etc… and misplace them as I have in years past. It’s been kind of quiet over here after my trip to Kentucky kinda went sideways 😵‍💫 January has been telling me to rest pretty hard (of course I’ve tried my best to resist) and I’ve felt guilt for my lack of productivity already this year but my brain has been exploring things it doesn’t get a chance to when I’m occupied so I’m excited about that and how 2024's calendar is shaping up.

This morning my mind and body were at odds with one another. My mind vehemently insisted that we go to the shop and be productive. My body said “Try it I dare you! If you change out of this robe and step out of the house before you need to be at Sha’s for DnD I will make you regret it…” Time for a compromise? I have florals at the house so I can do enjoyable low spoons productive activities from home if I need to. Buuuuuut I found this book I bought, and was super excited about… and promptly lost 😂 it came I put it in a doom pile and boom lost! 😂 anyhow my robe, my coffee, my mind and body, have agreed that this is how we will be spending our day! Happy Monday my lovelies 🖤

When your brain feels like hot garbage after weeks of constant motion and you’re only half way there. Taking the day to allow myself to sift through the very accurate representation of my brain that is my work bench. I go on absolute productivity benders where I can only occupy the maker space of my brain until it gets so bogged down with the chaos that I have to stop and re-organize. I know I’m not the only creative who struggles with this but here’s my mess and my brain in all it’s chaotic glory. I will gather up all the still viable materials and set aside for future use and dispose of the rest. This is my low key activity for today.

That’s all just a random afternoon moment of joy 🖤 to be fair yesterday I was like my gods what a disaster I love you but you’re utterly embarrassing and I should clean you up…. I didn’t. 😂

More often than not I tend to go adventuring on my own. Sometimes I drag along a companion, and sometimes folks even VOLUNTARILY (like legit schedule time to spend) to go on adventures with me. (Yes I will require you to carry sticks if you go adventuring with me.) I can be a skittish solitary creature and I don’t enjoy others taking photos of me as I tend be absolutely brutal about what I see in them (which can be disheartening to the photographer who’s absolutely not to fault for my image issues) but sometimes having an adventure captured can be beautiful. I think younger me would have been stoked to see current me in the wild, and to know that current me is loved and safe in the community that’s been built on this journey. Thank you to my community for holding me and supporting me on my crazy ass journey. Thank you for documenting my scavenging adventures.
