There are some changes to the previously announced schedule for tonight's forum. Earlier today, we were informed that a group of candidates who had agreed to participate had now declined to appear as the event's format took shape.

We appreciate the sincerity and professionalism of the declining candidates.

The 6:30 PM County Supervisors Forum is CANCELED.

The 7:30 PM House of Representatives Forum is happening as scheduled with candidates Grant Hill and Aaron Hinnah.

Iowa's primary election is next Tuesday, June 2, 2026. As part of the Auditorium's role as a community resource, we invite you to a Primary Candidate Forum at Smokey Row Coffee - Oskaloosa. All candidates have agreed to attend.

We'll provide the sound system; you provide the questions!

The forum format will include an opening statement from each candidate, equal-time Q&A with Moderator Dave Krutzfeldt, and follow-up Q&A from the forum audience.

The Wright Light

Many theatres have “ghost lights” to illuminate the stage when it is empty. This helps keep the space safe for anyone who might walk through; a guide even when nobody is there to see it.

This light was dedicated in 2022 upon Randall Wright's retirement as the George Daily Auditorium’s Executive Director to celebrate 52 years of work in education and community development.

The “Wright Light” is our version of a “ghost light,” a reminder of Randall’s philosophy to always do the right thing (or the “Wright” thing, as his students often referred to it), even if nobody is there to see it.

Randall Wright passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Spring Production season is wrapping up at the Auditorium!

Here is a visual timeline of the last month:

March 27: Opening night of OHS Drama's production of THE MOUSE THAT ROARED

April 2: Bare bones version of William Penn's set for CICADA, so actors could get a feel for it before it came down for...

April 10: The internationally touring production of THE CAT IN THE HAT, from New Zealand. This show featured an inflatable set!

April 11: (not pictured) The William Penn set went back up in its final form, and light cues were set on April 12.

April 16: Opening night of William Penn Drama's CICADA

April 17: (Not pictured) Rehearsal for a William Penn senior recital

April 25: Final structural touches are being put on George Daily Youth Theatre's set for OLYMPUS: A GREEK ROCK MUSICAL and THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL

April 26: (not pictured) William Penn senior recital featuring Wind Ensemble, the grand piano, and a vocal ensemble

April 30: Dress rehearsal for GDYT's THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL

May 1: Final Dress for GDYT's OLYMPUS and opening night for SPONGEBOB

May 2: OLYMPUS performance and closing night for SPONGEBOB

May 4: Summer production season starts with a read-through of THE THREE MUSKETEERS! And, after lots of award ceremonies, dance recitals, and concerts, we're less than a month away from the start of theatre camp!

A huge amount of gratitude for the production teams and volunteers who made this exceptionally fast-paced year possible. All three productions planned their set designs together around specific stock pieces, such as platforms, so that the changeover could be as fast and painless as possible. Theatre is Better Together! 🥰

This is the week! The Cat is here, have no fear. He will absoluterly make your familes night better, so much so you will want to send him a letter! We are not sure if he will read it, but he might put it in his traveling kit. You see, the Cat in the hat travels far and wide, so he and his friends ride in cars and go down slides. They laugh, play, and cause a ruckus- and you can do that too for one night only, join Cat and his traveling circus!

Of course you might not be able to actually join the tour of "Cat in the Hat:Live on Stage!" but you can see the show that pops right off the page! Come see the show on April 10th at 7pm at the George Daily Auditorium, where adult tickets are $25, student tickets are FREE, and of course a show that is sure to wow every Seuss historian!
