It’s been a long layoff. The short story is I’ve gone through some hearing issues keeping me from turning out captures, but I’ve got a new isolation setup that is allowing me to get back to doing what I love… capturing incredible amplifiers!

The time has finally come to catch version 2 captures of one of my holy grail amps. My 1964 AC30T with original Silverbells. I’ve never played an amp that captures depth and chime like this amp all in one. And these V2 captures are absolutely ridiculous. I do hope to release a full capture pack in the near future, y’all🤠🎸🔥‼️

I was doing some V2 captures on this amp this past weekend and was struck by how incredible one of these captures pairs up with a few of my V1 1964 AC30 captures. The best stereo pairing of two captures I’ve ever experienced. I’m still doing some testing on V2 capture technology, but I do hope to make some of this stuff available at some point down the road. The quad cortex capture tech continues to impress me.  Now if we could just get a marketplace going, that would be excellent.

Been out of pocket for a while, but if you are still hanging out around here, I want to let you know that I am starting to dive into some V2 captures. I am interested to see how they compare capture for capture with all the same mics, preamps, and amplifiers I have used for my V1 captures… will keep y’all posted🤠🎸💥

Got a chance to look this over today and they’ve done an incredible job putting essentially the same guts inside a unit that is so small. The only downside I see is that there is a little bit less I/O capability and it is more cumbersome to access all eight scenes per preset.  For someone using the quad cortex in a studio setting with cortex control, I see no reason to choose the larger unit over this. This would also be an incredible grab and go mini rig.  On the other hand, if size is not a factor for you, then the OG still reigns supreme in my opinion.

And the new CorOS 4.0 looks great. The phase doctor is absolute 🔥🔥🔥… been asking them for this since the release. Absolute GAME CHANGER for stereo amp captures. Expanded functions with gig view and three more reverbs. Can’t wait!

Capture 2 tech on the QC is absolutely crushing on comps… this Cali76 TX-P is #28 of only 100 of these units ever made by Origin Effects. They announced at release that this unit would never be re-released and they’ve held true to their word. I ordered this the day these became available over 10 years ago and I have not played my guitar through a compressor that sounds or plays anything like this one. The parallel compression just puts it in a different world. The transformer boost makes for the best lead boost I’ve ever had on a pedal as well. The version two captures on the QC are indistinguishable from the original pedal. So so good🔥‼️

I am more excited about this update than any QC update Neural DSP has announced yet. Capture 2 technology that allows me to capture the characteristics of compressors and fuzz open up a whole new world. We’ll have to see how good it is… pretty excited to give it a go.

Now this is unexpected… some very interesting stuff in this new release🎸🤠💥

CorOS 3.3.0 with Capture 2 tech😵… I have to see if this can capture the magic of my big box Cali TX-P. If this can accurately re-create compressor and fuzz boxes, this could be pretty fun.
