WELCOME BACK, ROADRUNNERS!

The Butte College Music Department is excited for another semester of making music together!

Whether you’re a music major or just want to keep performing, everyone is welcome in our ensembles:

* Symphonic Band — M/W 2:00–3:50 PM
* Choir — T/Th 4:00–5:15 PM
* Pop Band — T/Th 2:30–3:45 PM
* Jazz Ensemble — T/Th 12:30–2:20 PM
* Guitar Ensemble — T/Th 9:30–10:45 AM
* Jazz Combos & Chamber Music — Times TBA

We also offer:

* Degrees in Music, Recording Arts, Commercial Music, and Composition & Theory
* Private lessons
* A supportive, collaborative environment
* Lots of opportunities to perform

Faculty Recital – Butte College Music
Wednesday, May 20th, 2pm, Free Admission

Join us for a special afternoon of music featuring the talented faculty of the Butte College Music Department. This recital highlights a dynamic program of chamber and solo works performed by faculty artists across a range of instruments and styles.

Featuring Ayako Nakamura (trumpet & flugelhorn), Aman Cowell (trumpet), Bobby Rogers (saxophone), Ryan Heimlich (clarinet & bass clarinet), and Erika Ray (piano), along with special guests Rocky Winslow and Roxanne Winslow (trumpet) and Dr. Marilyn K. Clark Silva (marimba).

The program includes music by Copland, Claussen, and Veldkamp, showcasing a variety of musical voices and styles in an engaging and intimate performance setting.

Join us for the Second Annual Rhythm & Riffs Music Festival, a high-energy celebration of live music featuring ensembles from Butte College and Chico State. Held at Cafe Coda in Chico, this free, family-friendly event brings together a wide range of styles, performers, and sounds in a vibrant outdoor setting.

Enjoy performances by the Butte Jazz Big Band, Butte Pop Bands, Butte Jazz Combos, CSU Chico Pop Band, and more. With music running throughout the evening, this festival highlights the diversity and creativity of student musicians across multiple genres.

Join the Butte College Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Ryan Heimlich, for an evening exploring the connection between music and visual art. This immersive program brings together sound, color, and imagination through works by Reed, Likhuta, Mahler, Vaughan Williams, Sakai, Ticheli, and Sousa—each translating visual ideas, landscapes, and emotion into music.

Featuring artwork from local and student artists, this multi-sensory experience blends performance and visual expression in creative and unexpected ways.

Arrive early for pre-concert art and sound activities beginning at 6pm and be part of the experience before the music begins.
