The Collins Center for the Arts serves as the anchor for performing arts at UMaine and is a cultural resource for the region, offering a broad and exceptional selection of programming designed to enrich, educate, and entertain. n brings a wide variety of events, including Broadway tours, nationally-known comedians, legendary singers, renown dancers, family shows, live theatre, and everything in between. The 1,435 Hutchins Concert Hall provides the perfect venue to see your favorite events. In addition to presenting some of the world's most exciting live events in its Mainstage Series, the Collins Center presents several concerts in its Chamber Music Series, primarily presented in the intimate Minsky Recital Hall. The Collins Center is home to one of the largest broadcast screens in Maine, where we present two thrilling series: The Met: Live in HD and National Theatre Live. The Metropolitan Opera's Peabody and Emmy Award-winning series The Met: Live in HD broadcasts the best of British theatre recorded live from the London stage. The Collins Center for the Arts is proud to be the home of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, one of the oldest, continually-operating community orchestras in the nation. Each year, the Symphony performs the Nutcracker, and other selections for thousands of fans. The Collins Center is also the perfect place to see arts education in action with symphonic, jazz and vocal concerts performed by music students from the University of Maine School of Performing Arts. Annually, more than 100,000 people visit the Collins Center for the Arts for a variety of events.

It is with great sorrow that we share the recent passing of Anne Collins, who, together with her late husband Richard Collins, is the namesake of our building.

Anne and Richard's generosity made it possible for the Collins Center to create countless memories over the years, and their legacy will continue to shape this space for generations to come.

Anne was a truly special person and will be deeply missed. In the coming season, we hope to honor the Collins family's memory and share more stories of the generosity, warmth, and lasting impact they brought to our community.

The Met: Live in HD season comes to a close Sunday, May 31 at 1 p.m. with El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego — a new opera inspired by the lives, art, and turbulent love story of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.

Featuring a richly imaginative score and a vibrant production inspired by the artists' iconic paintings, this magical-realist opera follows Frida as she returns from the underworld on the Day of the Dead for one final reunion with Diego. It's a colorful, moving, and unforgettable conclusion to the Met's season.
