Final Elementary Art Explorers of the summer and I’m practically in a puddle.

What do you mean I get to spend my evenings making gorgeous artwork with all of my little best friends?! Truly, how is this my job?

Tonight we talked about landscapes and the way sunsets and sunrises can make us feel. We imagined those colors and places in our minds, and then let those pictures travel from our brains, through our fingers, and right onto our artwork.

We used air-dry clay to create dreamy little landscapes, watercolored canvas to look like tie-dye, printed our own foam stamps with printer’s ink, and finished everything with beaded wire hangers so these treasures can live somewhere special at home.

And if that wasn’t heaven enough… I got to hold the sweetest angel baby and completely fall in love with one of my newest little art students—who will be just big enough to join me in the studio next summer 🤍

We gathered around the table, pulled out journals, fancy papers, tape, gems, photos, markers and all the good stuff—and just made.

There is so much JOY in making art just because you want to. Not for work. Not for your kids. Not because you need to be “good” at it. Just for you.

Tonight was a reminder that grown-ups need Art Club too.

Preschool Drop-Off at The Art Room ✨🎨

Today was full of bedazzling, mixing, experimenting and a whole lot of “WHOA!!!” 🤩

Our little artists created sparkly name tags, cardboard collage hangings, and the fan favorite of the day — chemical reaction paintings! 🧪✨

We mixed baking soda + water to create invisible paintings inspired by treasures we found in nature. After they dried, we came back with a mixture of turmeric + hand sanitizer and watched their hidden marks magically appear. The WOWS were loud and the excitement was contagious. 💛

And with a HUGE, amazing class of 18 preschoolers today, I got to have a very special guest in the Art Room — Ms. Kara! 🥹💕 Ms. Kara and I shared a classroom together back in the day, so getting to create alongside her again today felt extra special. Some things just come full circle. ✨

This is why I love process art so much — the experimenting, the wondering, the waiting, the surprise…and all the magic that happens along the way.

Celebrating a 60th birthday with art, connection, fresh flowers, and lots of laughter. 🌸✨ Instead of making something perfect, we practiced making for the simple joy of making. Slowing down. Looking closely. Trusting our hands. And celebrating a woman who has spent 60 years cultivating a beautiful life. There really is no better way to honor someone than by creating together.

Printing with foam shapes is one of my favorite things to do with my art kiddos. 💛 The magic starts with sticky foam stickers and a little ink, but that’s only half the fun. The real learning happens in the wondering: Did I roll enough ink? Did I press hard enough? What happens if I try it a different way? Every print becomes an experiment, a chance to observe, adjust, and try again. And then comes the very best part—the moment they peel back their printing plate to reveal the surprise underneath. Those happy squeals never get old. ✨ Process over perfection, every single time.
