I admit that sometimes I feel we live in a time that mom thinks no matter what she will get her self care in, her needs and wants met no matter what. I have always been and still am the mom that lets the kids do a lot of the choosing. I unfortunately know what it is like to lose a child so I know the silence when that happens. And after husband gets home and I make dinner, hopefully there will be time for me to go over to the beach. But yes I do get tired of there just not being enough hours in the day. So many things we all want to do but just not enough time. I really want to make progress on this project anyway.

When my kids were little I would go through the house singing This is the Day the Lord Has Made. I used to put so much emphasis on "this day". What will we do this day? We did a lot of living in the moment. I wanted every moment to count. Upon marrying Steven, things changed more into planning .... planning for future, planning for time off (have to when working for others). That was a hard adjustment for someone that was self-employed and free. I admire him for having the will to work for his job for as long as he has and be a planner. I want to go back to more of "this day" though. I don't want to lose the moments. This feels like a lull, a drag. I have always lived for the moments and the present. I am actually going to plan for more spontaneity.

I cut fabric into pieces and I put them back together.

Sometimes I do get stuck. Sometimes I lose confidence. I especially lose confidence when it is fabric that is sentimental in nature.

4 weeks ago, someone was in my house and asked me what I was making. I told her I am using scraps from my son's jeans and shorts that he wore when he was alive to make a handbag / purse / tote bag.

Yesterday, she was back and asked to see my progress. Uh-oh. No progress. It is all trimmed and ready to become something whole but still not stitched back together. I'm stuck. I'm scared. What if I mess it up? I have so many other things I could be working on but I've hit a wall because of this. If he was alive, it would be different because there would be more of his clothes to come but this is the last of his clothes. All of his others are in quilts.

I have seen beautiful denim bags that cost hundreds of dollars in Dillard's. I know that it can be done. I don't expect to make one that is a replica of those, but I do want it to look nice. If you have made a tote or handbag out of denim, please share pictures in the comments.

I am almost done with one project, and I am already trying to get ideas for the next project to use my "collection" of fabric so I can empty out a closet. There are so many other thing I could use the closet for! I'm determined to use it though. My fabric is too precious to sell for pennies or give away 😄

Still in the works but so far, I am pleased. Ties are so expensive and some men have really nice collections. Turn those into memories!
