Our Broadway loving, free-spirited, unapologetically herself superstar has met a goal that so many of us felt is out of reach for our small little studio.

For as long as I’ve known her she’s had a one track mind towards the stage. She spends her free time singing Hamilton and looking into styles of dance most would shy away from.

DDC is located in a small town with a population of less than 3,000, but we have always made sure these kids know to dream big.

Money is tight, but we figure it out where we can because these kids work too hard.

THIS is why we do so many fundraisers, THIS is why we look for business sponsors.

Moments like THIS where a dream is finally made into reality.

Congratulations Lily Russell - $60,000 4 year scholarship to AMDA College of Performing Arts.

She did that by refusing to be anyone but herself, and that is life’s best lesson.

So proud of Lily Russell For taking the stage one more time today!

This one has always danced from the heart and through her body and received some encouraging words in the recap from one of the instructors :

A dancer with so much natural musicality and connection to music/movement without needing the bells and whistles of technique. As an LA dancer, I encourage this dancer to look into opportunity out west. There is a pocket of dance made for dancers like her should she continue to explore it.

What an amazing few days !

Emery - 10th place overall FG senior solos, judge award
Eden - 4th place overall NG petite solo, judge award
Sadie - 6th place overall NG jr solo, highest overall score junior lyrical solo
Harper - Judge Award
Araya - a cut above award
Lillie - 4th place NG teen solo
Marley - 3rd place NG senior solo
Lily - 1st place NG senior solo, a cut above invitation recipient, a cut above award
Maris - 1st place EG petite solo, extravaganza invitation

But wait…

Lily Russell and Maris Pace will both take the floor one more time!

Lily, tomorrow with the additional dancers from across the US chosen for a cut above, will take the floor with an amazing contemporary combo!

Maris, will display her solo one final time on Friday in the Elite Gem Extravaganza.

Both of these dancers will be representing DDC with so much pride!

We are so proud of all the dancers who took the floor, danced in master classes, and let themselves get out of their comfort zone. There are so many paths available in the dance industry for these athletes and we are grateful for opportunities like these to expose them to the world of the Arts!

Our little powerhouse - so proud of little Maris, regardless of any outcome she is the first petite level solo to reach the elite level by judge recommendation at DDC.

She’s had a year of ups and downs, good days and bad days, but one thing she continues to be is a coachable athlete who learns and applies all judge critiques and coach corrections.

This is her final year in the Petite age division and man, did she leave her mark for DDC solos!

- the tiny team made for new dancers, competes locally at three events within a 2 hour drive, does NOT go to nationals

- the junior pom, made for dancers born 2010-2016 who have been competing nationally for 3 years or less. This team IS a nationals bound team!
