SHREK is a story about finding your people and discovering that the parts of yourself you were taught to hide may be the very best to share. That has made it an especially lovely show for our cozy space.

These production photos show a version of this familiar story that is funny, peculiar, heartfelt, handmade, and entirely ours. We couldn’t be more proud of this cast, (our amazing choreography leader) and Meli Melissa Buchanan Akers for capturing it all during our final rehearsal.

A handmade fairy tale is taking shape at PaperMap. 💚

Our youth company is bringing Shrek The Musical JR. to life in one fast, funny hour filled with big songs, and a whole lot of heart. A hat, a beard, a pair of ears, or even an old spyglass can turn an actor into someone entirely new right before your eyes, and that’s the kind of theatrical magic we love.

There are only four chances to see it, August 28–30. Tickets are only $15, and seating in our cozy Thornton Park theater is very limited.

2027 Season

A new year of stories is taking shape at PaperMap. ✧

In 2027, our little theater in Thornton Park will become Kansas in 1985, Truvy’s beauty shop, the March family home, the Secret Annex, an enchanted forest, a very proper English drawing room, Castle Dracula, and Victorian London.

Nearly every title will be shared across generations. A community company will create the world first, then a youth or teen company will step into it and tell the story in its own way.

Some folks will join us as actors. Some will help backstage. Some will sit only a few feet away and watch it all come to life.

Whether you have been doing theater for years, have always wondered what it might feel like to try, or simply love being in the audience, there will be a place for you in this season.

Here is what is coming to Thornton Park in 2027. ✨ More information about auditions, community participation, youth and teen enrollment, camp registration, tickets, and each production will be added to our website soon, so keep checking papermaptheater.com as the adventures get closer.
