Most ceremony photos face the couple. This one doesn't, it's from behind the bridal party instead, trees framing the space they're all looking toward. Sometimes the best proof of a space is the view from behind everyone, not in front of them.

If you were in a bridal party recently, what's a moment you remember from standing beside the couple?

From this angle you can see the whole room catch the same moment at once, every table, every glass raised together under the chandeliers. It's a different kind of proof than a close-up shot, it's what the room actually felt like.

Have you ever had to give a wedding toast?

Every dessert on this table has its own name card: chocolate fudgy brownies, honey orange sablés, peach baby pies, and more. All of it laid out on blue and pink linens with candlelight in between. It's the kind of table that makes people slow down before they even pick something.

What's on your non-negotiable dessert table list?

We love seeing what couples decide to do for a guest book instead of the traditional route. This couple chose a simple signature on a leaf that turned into a whole tree, something they can actually look back on years later instead of a book that ends up in a drawer.

Would you do something like this for your own guest book, or is a classic book more your style?

Not every detail at a historic home has to be solemn and traditional. Tucked between the window panes here are pops of colored glass and vases, the kind of playful detail you don't expect walking into an 1893 house.

What's a detail in an older building that surprised you by being more fun than formal?

Seeing the ceremony space from the back shows something the front-facing shots don't, how the whole layout actually comes together, fountain and all, once every chair is filled. It's a different kind of proof than a posed photo, it's what a guest would have actually seen sitting there.

If you've been to a wedding here, or anywhere with a setup like this, what part of the space stuck with you most?

Most people walk right past this fountain on their way to somewhere else on the property, chairs, the aisle, the reception space. But stop for a second and it's one of the quieter details at Dr. Phillips House worth actually noticing, water catching light mid-fall in a way photos only half capture.

What's a small detail from a venue you toured that stuck with you longer than you expected?

There's a version of this ceremony space that most people never see, the quiet minutes before a single guest arrives, before the chairs fill and the processional starts. Just the serenity of Dr. Phillips House, holding the same stillness it has before every wedding here. 🤍

It's easy to picture the day itself, the vows, the walk down the aisle, but there's something almost more interesting about the calm right before it. What's a quiet moment from your own wedding day, or one you attended, that you still think about?

Nick had his own quiet minute, tucked into the parlor by the fireplace at Dr. Phillips House. The little details in this room, the horse prints, the wingback chair, do a lot of quiet work in photos like this.

Tours are the best way to see this room for yourself.
