"Show Your Inner Royalty" Day 3: EXCELLENCE 👑
For today's social media challenge, we were encouraged to share our proudest achievements or a skill that we've mastered! Today I'm sharing a moment that to me, embodied black excellence; being surrounded by incredible creative leaders in performing arts! The highlight of this night was absolutely being able to present THE Danny Glover with the Urbanfest360 Lifetime Achievement Award!
Story time: So I was in town for the modeling casting! Which of course was an amazing 10/10 experience. I was able to see familiar faces, such as (aka the model godmother) and make new connections. My mom and I stayed a little bit longer to enjoy the film festival, and while I was there, we ended up getting to chat with the creators of the film festival! We had a great conversation, and they quickly decided they had something "very special" that they needed me to do! 👀I had no idea what the "very special" thing would be til'about 20 minutes later when we find out I'm going to be presenting THE Danny Glover with a lifetime achievement award, and accepting it on his behalf. 😱
I've always wanted to present at an award show at one point in my life, and it was truly a surreal experience! 🥹I was able to accept an award on the behalf of someone who I've looked up to as an aspiring actor, and grew up seeing him on the big screen.
After presenting, I was honored to be able to speak to so many highly decorated actors, such as , , and even . I had the opportunity to chat with them about my platform, how my reign as Miss Juneteenth was going, and even receive some inspiring advice!! This was a moment that filled myself, my family, and community with pride!
