BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, EPIC VIBES, AND NOTHING BUT PURE CARIBBEAN ENERGY!!! 🔥🔥🔥 Miami Carnival J’ouvert was an unforgettable experience filled with colorful paint, powder, water, nonstop SOCA MUSIC, and thousands of people coming together to celebrate our beautiful Caribbean culture! 🌴🎶

🎭✨ **ENTER THE MAGICAL WORLD OF THE MOKO JUMBIE!!!**

Towering high above the crowds on stilts, these magnificent figures are among the most breathtaking sights in Caribbean Carnival! But did you know their history reaches all the way back to WEST AFRICA? 🌍

The Moko Jumbie tradition is rooted in African spiritual and masquerade practices carried into the Caribbean during the era of slavery. In Trinidad and Tobago, the Moko Jumbie became an iconic Carnival character, representing protection, ancestral connections, and the power to rise above danger!

Traditionally, Moko is associated with a protective spiritual figure, while Jumbie refers to a spirit in Caribbean folklore. Their incredible height symbolizes the ability to SEE BEYOND ordinary human vision, watching over the community from above! 👀✨

AND WHAT A SIGHT THEY ARE!!! 🔥

Imagine these towering performers dancing high above thousands of masqueraders, balancing gracefully on stilts while their colorful costumes flow through the air and the rhythm of the drums fills the streets!!! It's a breathtaking combination of ART, HISTORY, COURAGE, AND CULTURAL PRIDE!!! 🥁🌈

🎤🌟 CAP News is calling on Orlando’s Caribbean community to come out and support Sandra Fatmi-Hall, Executive Director as she takes the stage at TEDxOrlando 2026!

As an influential figure in Orlando’s Caribbean community, Sandra has dedicated herself to empowering young people and strengthening families. After a 17-year career in banking, she founded her nonprofit in 2014, building initiatives focused on youth mentorship, college and career preparation, scholarships, food distribution, and family support.

Through her leadership, the foundation reports an impact of more than $50 million in economic value, 400,000+ service hours, $550,000+ in educational scholarships, and 17 million pounds of food distributed. These accomplishments reflect the collective efforts of the students, volunteers, staff, and partners working alongside her.

Now, Sandra brings that mission to the TEDxOrlando stage with a powerful message: we must invest in young leaders before a crisis forces us to act. By giving young people mentorship, responsibility, and opportunities to lead early, we can help shape stronger communities for generations to come. ❤️

Angie Nixon for Florida Senator interviews with Caribbean American Passport News Magazine — October 7th, 2026

Last night Caribbean American Passport News Magazine had the pleasure of interviewing Democratic Candidate for Florida Senator Angie Nixon at her Call Me Senator Fundraiser at Renaissance Theater in Orlando, Florida.

She spoke about some of her campaign’s priorities, alongside what members of our Caribbean diaspora voting in November should pay attention to when they’re at the ballot booth.

And for those preparing for Miami Carnival 2026, Representative Nixon will be in attendance continuing her streak of community and cultural engagement across the state.

🌴 CARIBBEAN DIASPORA, TUNE IN!

A major conversation about the future of Caribbean tourism is taking place right now in Georgetown, Guyana, and CAP News is encouraging Caribbean people at home and across the diaspora to tune in.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is opening the 2026 State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC), bringing together tourism ministers, government officials, private-sector leaders, researchers, youth representatives and media from across the region.

This year marks the first time Guyana is hosting SOTIC, under the theme:

“Tourism Futures: Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive.”

The conference will explore how Caribbean destinations can continue to grow through technology, sustainable tourism practices and inclusive opportunities.

Today's opening ceremony will feature His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana, delivering the keynote address, along with leaders from the Caribbean Tourism Organization and Guyana’s tourism sector.
