High achieving women have a bad habit of trying to fix a career stagnation by taking on more work.

Here’s the no-frills truth: Task volume does not equal promotion. It just leads to burnout and resentment.

True career progression happens when you align your daily output with your leader's priorities.
Protect your leader's energy, solve their biggest bottlenecks, and focus completely on the work that moves the needle.

"So, tell me about yourself.” 🫥

Literally the worst question to answer whether it’s for a summer job, college interview, or meeting new people.

Let's change that. Come hang out for a casual, zero-pressure Coffee Talk (Teen Edition). No boring lectures. Just real people who you can ask questions like how to nail a first impression, and how to introduce yourself to new people.
Did we mention we will also be making friendship bracelets?

📋 Who: Teen Young Women in the Arts
📅 When: Friday, June 12th, 10AM
📍 Where: Secret Lake Nona Coffee Spot (watch our IG stories for the location two days before)

We are kicking off our new Substack platform with a highly under-discussed conversation. This Friday, Alisa is sitting down with Erica Cocilova, consumer goods executive brand leader to talk about Mentorship vs. Sponsorship: The Unwritten Rules of the Ladder. This will be a live discussion with a Q&A. Want to participate? Join our Substack as this is a members only chat!

"What would you do differently if you were graduating right now and looking for a job?"

In our first Substack interview, , a UCF Stage Management student asked what she would do differently if she were graduating and looking for a job today.

Watch the clip below for a preview of their conversation.

The full interview is officially live on the brand new Women in Production Collective Substack! To celebrate our launch week, tomorrow we will be dropping a 30-Day Free VIP pass in our IG stories so you can access our weekly strategy deep-dives, job drops, and mentorship network.

Our public pages will always be here to advocate for women in this industry, but we needed a private space to do the real work.
Welcome to the new official home of the Women in Production Collective on Substack! This is our dedicated hub for exclusive job postings, resources, and live masterclasses.
Because we are kicking off our very first LIVE Masterclass next Friday (June 5th!), keep an eye on our IG stories later this week for a free 30 day link!

Today, worked with a group of 4th and 5th grade girls on the power of the first impression, and the most important moment of all, the handshake!
We ditched the limp "dead fish" handshakes and mastered the "confident connector."
Seeing these young girls learn to stand up in front of their peers, find their superpowers, and truly take up space is exactly why we do this work.

Two years ago today, we took this picture.
There was no massive launch strategy, and no official name yet. It was an experiment. We asked a few women in production to bring a bottle of wine and a book to exchange, just to see what would happen if we finally all got in the same room.

It is wild to look back at this photo and see what Women in Production Collective has become. Thank you to the women who showed up to that very first exchange, and to everyone who has joined the conversation since.
(Spoiler alert - wait until you see what we are doing next!)

Let’s do some live resume translation. Check out this clip from one of our Founder, Alisa's TED Talks.

Recruiters see 'Stage Manager' on a resume and often have no idea what to do with it. They assume it means 'good at organizing props' or 'can call light cues.'

Let's upgrade that vocabulary. A theatrical Stage Manager is actually an Agile Project Manager. They know how to mitigate high-stakes crises in real-time, manage immovable deadlines (the curtain goes up at 8 PM whether you are ready or not), and act as the central communication hub between creative teams and technical departments.

If you can keep a 50-person crew calm during a massive technical failure in the dark, you don't just have 'soft skills.' You have highly billable executive assets.

To all our production professionals revising your resumes: stop apologizing for your background, and start translating it.

Let's stop apologizing for treating production like a career instead of a 24/7 lifestyle. Which one of these are you gui...

Let's stop apologizing for treating production like a career instead of a 24/7 lifestyle.
Which one of these are you guilty of?

After hiding in the dark for so long as a Stage Manager and a Producer, getting noticed by a passerby was a great reminder that sometimes just doing your job visibly is the key to getting another opportunity.
