McRae Art Studios is a front door to the careers and businesses of a diverse group of talented artists. Our true light shines from the work each of us creates. We encourage you to contact us individually or as a group. We are always open to new venues for gr

oup showings. Twice a year, we open our spaces to the public and private showings of the studio are available by appointment.

While we are sad that is no longer an active member of McRae (he now gets to make best use of his amazing home studios) — but we are also thrilled that is our newest Member Artist.

By no means is he new to McRae. He’s been a Member Artist in each of our previous locations. Now we are delighted to welcome him to our Arlington Arts Building home.

We are excited that the work of McRae Member Artist, Martha Jo Mahoney, is part of an exciting Our Orlando exhibit at the Mennello Museum of American Art. Tasanee Durrell & Mado Smith are also featured.

The show runs through August 16th. So make sure you stop in to the Mennello to see it sometime this summer.

Founders George & Marty Whipple wanted to see working artists flourish in a supportive environment. As a contemporary fulfillment of that dream, we are revealing self-portraits of our current members & sharing their thoughts about McRae.

* What questions does this piece leave me with?

Connection doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. Look for small points of resonance:
* A color you love
* A texture that feels familiar
* A subject matter that stirs memories or reactions
* A pattern, shape, or detail that catches your attention

Join us for our Spring Open House on April 25th from 6-9pm — which kicks off a yearlong celebration of McRae Art Studios’ 40th anniversary.

Founders George & Marty Whipple wanted to see working artists flourish in a supportive environment. As a contemporary fulfillment of that dream, we are revealing self-portraits of our current members & sharing their thoughts about McRae.

Carla Poindexter, our newest Member Artist, is a fine arts professor at UCF. Her self-portrait invites viewers to expand their expectations of portraiture beyond “likenesses” to vast, free realms of self-expression.

She offers these thoughts about McRae:
“It is a place where artists from all backgrounds and all walks of life are free to express their art as they choose - without judgement, fear, or criticism from others. It is a safe place to create and thrive.”
