Remembering Pulse 10 Years On

Today, ten years later, we honor and remember the forty-nine people lost, their families, the survivors, and all those impacted by the Pulse tragedy. We reflect on how Orlando was united by compassion for others, with many moved to donate blood, attend community events, and work together to create a permanent memorial opening in late 2027.

The Downtown Arts District sought to exhibit local art on the subject of the tragedy through “One City - One Pulse”, a 2017 exhibition at the former CityArts Factory that provided a space for artists and community members to grieve, reflect, and respond creatively. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Now showing in the Side Gallery:

In "Everything Connects: Life is Full of Dots," Artist Brian Strigel invites viewers into a world where art and science quietly collide.

Through intricate compositions built from spirals, dots, and layered patterns, Striegel creates works that feel both microscopic and cosmic. Like cells under a microscope or galaxies unfolding in deep space, his paintings draw the viewer into a meditative experience, encouraging stillness, curiosity, and a sense of scale that is both intimate and infinite.

A science teacher by profession, Strigel brings a unique perspective to his work. His understanding of systems and the unseen connections within nature informs each piece. What may appear abstract begins to reveal a deeper logic, one rooted in the idea that simple elements, repeated and connected, can create something complex and alive. Some viewers may interpret hints of mythology or religion within the work, but Strigel's intentionis not to define meaning; it is to open it.

His paintings suggest that we are part of something much larger, something we may never fully understand, yet remain connected to. "Everything Connects" is an invitation to peer closer and recognize that even the smallest point can be part of something vast.

On view until June 13th at 6 PM.

Now showing in the Spotlight Gallery: “Suchness 2" by Stemberger

Florida native Plein air painter. Stemberger calls his style New Wave Impressionism, a contemporary take on outdoor easel painting in which the painter seeks to capture an observational representation of time and space through light and colour. He loves how Plein air painting relies on perception over memory embracing the experience between the process and product.

On view until June 13th at 6 PM.
