Remember looking at clouds as a kid? I imagined alligators, dragons, and all sorts of things in those fluffy white floating swirls.
Head in the Clouds is a painting from my new series, "Skies & Clouds."
The intangible nature of clouds makes the expansive sky a perfect subject for an artist. Every time I look at the sky, it is a new experience. Turn my head to the east and then back to the west, and witness something beautiful and unique. Wait another five minutes, and the sun is now sifting its rays through wisps of clouds and billowing towers of cumulus splendor.
Through constantly changing shapes and colors, the sky echoes every human emotion. Sometimes it is threatening, sometimes it is full of hope. Often whimsical, but always worthy of awe. As Edna St. Vincent Millay says, "The soul can split the sky in two and let the face of God shine through."
In this series of sky paintings, I hope to glimpse the face of God. I hope you do too.
