Established in 1974, the UCF Art Gallery has been a pillar for a constantly morphing atmosphere. Having curated over 200 exhibitions and featuring numerous artists throughout the world, the UCF Art Gallery reflects the eclectic vision that makes the university a thriving entity within Central Florida. Today, the gallery continues to integrate a diverse approach to the education, preservation, exhibition, and interpretation of art in its many forms.

Meet ✨ Lucía Morales, the recipient of ✨Pathways 2026: The Carlos Malamud Prize.

Working across textiles, painting, video, and installation, Morales explores how migration and immigration shape identity, memory, and belonging. Her figurative works draw from personal experience while creating space for collective stories, traditions, and cultural connection.

Drawing from her lifelong connection to Andean dance and traditions, Morales creates works that examine migration, visibility, and the ways communities carry memories across time and place.

"My work is concerned with how migration and immigration challenge notions of identity. Through textiles, paintings, video, and installation, I create spaces that hold collective memories, traditions, and the experiences that shape
who we are."

Born in Lima, Perú, and based in Miami, Florida, Morales earned her MFA from Florida International University in 2025.

Meet ✨Ebenezer Nketsiah Mensah, a finalist in ✨Pathways 2026: The Carlos Malamud Prize.

A multidisciplinary artist whose work is shaped by his experience as a former gold miner and construction worker in Ghana, Mensah explores labor, migration, and identity through sculpture and installation. His practice reflects on the physical and emotional realities of work, while honoring the resilience of the communities connected to it.

Using found and industrial materials, Mensah transforms personal and collective histories into powerful visual narratives rooted in memory, survival, and belonging.

“My work is deeply informed by lived experience, using material and process to speak to labor, movement, and the human condition.”

That’s the final frame 🎞️

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Singularity: Spring 2026 BFA Exhibition II, Part One and Part Two, at the UCF Art Gallery. The exhibitions featured work by senior Animation & Visualization students, highlighting projects at the intersection of research, design and emerging media.

With over 400 attendees, it was an incredible celebration of the next generation of artists. So proud of our graduating seniors and all they’ve accomplished! 👏

Meet ✨Cruz Castillo, a finalist in ✨Pathways 2026: The Carlos Malamud Prize.

A multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, performance, and video, Castillo examines how capitalism shapes public imagination and influences how we perceive art. His assemblages explore the tension between productive and unproductive labor, bringing attention to the often unseen processes behind cultural production.

Castillo transforms discarded objects into markers of labor, class, and lived experience — inviting viewers into a deeper conversation around value, memory, and meaning.

“My work looks at cultural products as commodities circulating within a global capitalist network, using found materials to reflect the conditions and histories tied to labor and place.”

Born in Detroit and based in Winter Park, Florida, Castillo holds an MFA from UCLA and continues to explore the politics of production through his evolving practice.

I'm excited to help kick off UCF Talks: "How To Get Into A Gallery: Beyond The White Walls." with the School of Visual Arts and Design.

The talk will focus on how emerging artists can have higher chances of success in the future by teaching them how to communicate and approach galleries while refining their social skills, as well as bringing light to how the art world really works outside of academia. Hope to see folks there!
