Dear God

The world has lost a musical genius and all around fantastic person: Tommy Talton. I've known Tommy since high school - it's been a long time. Over the years he has impacted my life in so many ways. He has always been a kind, gentle, soft spoken man who would give you the shirt off his back. I've seen him thru the many band stages in his life and loved every minute of it (We the People, Cowboy, etc.). Over the last decade he graciously played for me/ZSHOWZ in Orlando on multiple occasions and it was always a treat for the Orlando gang to have Tommy and his beautiful wife, Patty come to town. Below is a poster from New Year's Eve in 2013 when Tommy came to O-Town - a fabulous evening of beauty and music.

I was so sad to hear of his passing today and it caught me off guard. I think of him with love and tears in my eyes. I loved Tommy Talton. Much love to all who loved him and especially to Patty.

And respected for his songwriting - he penned the title track for the Grammy nominated Blind Boys of Alabama’s last album, adding to a long catalog of songs covered by Raitt, Gregg Allman, Bonnie Bramlett, Hot Tuna, Delbert McClinton and more.
