Is character dining at Disney actually worth the hype? 👀

This is one of the questions I get asked the most. And the answer might surprise you… because it’s not really about the food.

Character dining is one of the easiest ways to meet multiple characters without standing in long lines in the parks. Instead of running across the park trying to catch meet and greets, the characters come directly to your table.

Kids get time to talk, take photos, get autographs, and enjoy the moment without feeling rushed. For younger kids especially, this can feel incredibly magical. Sitting down for breakfast and suddenly Mickey, Minnie, or a princess walks over to your table is the kind of moment that sticks with families. ✨

But there are a few things people don’t always realize.

Character dining is one of the more expensive dining options at Disney. Most of the meals are fixed price, and it can easily take an hour or more out of your park day.

So the real question isn’t “is it worth it?”

It’s what kind of Disney day you want.

If meeting characters is a big priority for your kids and you want to avoid long character lines in the parks, it can absolutely be worth it.

If your goal is maximizing rides, you might prefer quick service meals and shorter meet and greets instead.

Now if you’re going to do character dining, there is one that consistently stands out.

Topolino’s Terrace breakfast at the Riviera Resort is one of the best. The food is genuinely good, the atmosphere is beautiful, and you meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in their adorable artist-themed outfits.

It feels a little calmer than many of the other character meals and the views from the rooftop restaurant are incredible.

For many families, this ends up being one of the most memorable meals of the trip.

How people accidentally spend $1,000 more at Disney. 👀

And most families don’t even realize they’re doing it.

Disney trips can get expensive quickly, but it’s rarely one big purchase that pushes the budget over… it’s the small decisions throughout the day that quietly add up.

One of the biggest ways people overspend is buying water and snacks all day long. In the Florida heat it’s easy to grab bottled water every time someone is thirsty, but every quick service restaurant will give you free cups of ice water if you ask. Over the course of a trip, that alone can save a surprising amount.

Another one is not planning meals ahead of time. When everyone gets hungry at once and you’re standing in the middle of a park, it’s easy to grab the first thing you see. Suddenly you’re spending $80–$100 on a quick meal you didn’t even research. Having a few go-to food spots picked out ahead of time makes a huge difference.

Impulse souvenirs are another sneaky one. The gift shops are designed to pull you in after rides when everyone is excited. A toy here, ears there, a bubble wand on the way to the next attraction… suddenly you’ve spent hundreds without realizing it.

And then there’s Lightning Lanes. Buying them individually throughout the day without a plan can easily add hundreds to a trip. Sometimes it makes sense, but knowing which rides are actually worth it helps avoid spending money you didn’t need to.

Another mistake I see families make is skipping rest time. When everyone gets exhausted, it usually leads to spending more on convenience — extra snacks, rideshares, impulse purchases — just to keep the day going.

The truth is, most Disney overspending isn’t about big splurges.

It’s about the little decisions that happen all day long.

And once you know where those traps are, you can save a lot without losing any of the magic. ✨

This is the biggest Disney mistake families make before they even enter the park. 👀

And most people don’t realize they’re doing it.

They think the Disney day starts when they walk through the gates… but the truth is your Disney day is usually won or lost the night before.

I see it every week.

Families rushing through the parking lot, kids melting down before 10am, parents already stressed trying to figure out Lightning Lanes, breakfast, strollers, bags… all before they’ve even ridden their first ride.

And it usually comes down to one simple thing.

They didn’t prepare the night before.

The families who have the smoothest mornings at Disney almost always do a few small things before they go to bed.

They lay out everyone’s park outfits.
They pack the park bag.
They charge portable chargers.
They decide what rides they want to rope drop.
They make sure MagicBands, tickets, and the Disney app are ready to go.

They even have quick breakfast options ready in the room so no one starts the day hungry.

Because rope drop mornings feel completely different when everyone can wake up slowly instead of scrambling.

The reality is early Disney mornings come fast. If you’re staying on property you’re often waking up around 6:30–7:00am to make the most of early entry.

And when the morning starts calm instead of chaotic, the entire day feels easier.

Lines feel shorter.
Kids are happier.
Parents aren’t stressed.

It’s one of those small Disney strategies that makes a huge difference.

The families who look like they’re effortlessly gliding through the parks usually aren’t winging it… they just did a little planning the night before.

And it completely changes how the day feels.

Things I refuse to do at Disney anymore after going 80 times. 👀

When you visit the parks a lot, you start to realize something important… not everything at Disney is worth the time, energy, or stress.

And honestly, letting go of a few things has made our Disney days so much better.

First, I refuse to spend half the day standing in one line. If a ride is showing a 90+ minute wait, we move on. There are so many incredible rides, shows, and experiences nearby that don’t require sacrificing a huge chunk of the day.

Another thing I stopped doing is trying to do every park in one day. Park hopping sounds great in theory, but transportation alone can eat up a surprising amount of time. Some of our best Disney days happen when we slow down and really enjoy one park instead of racing across property.

I also refuse to overbook dining reservations. When every meal has a strict time attached to it, the whole day starts revolving around getting to the next reservation. Some of the best meals at Disney are quick service spots where you can eat when it works for your family instead of rushing across the park.

Another thing I skip now… overplanning every minute. Disney days feel completely different when you leave room for spontaneous moments. A street performer, a parade you didn’t plan to watch, or stopping for a snack in the shade can end up being the highlight of the day.

And one that surprises people the most… I refuse to skip resort time. Some of our favorite memories come from pool afternoons, resort hopping, watching fireworks from outside the parks, or just slowing down for a few hours.

Because the truth is, Disney magic usually doesn’t come from doing everything.

It comes from enjoying the moments in between. ✨

“What is the right age to take your child to Disney?”

I hear this question all the time… and the answer might surprise you.

There actually isn’t a perfect age.

Because the truth is, a Disney trip isn’t just about what your child will remember — it’s about what you’ll remember too. ✨

Yes, older kids may remember more of the rides and attractions. But younger kids experience Disney in a completely different way. The characters feel real. The castle feels enormous. The magic feels believable in a way that only little kids can truly experience.

And those reactions? Those wide eyes, the excitement, the hugs with characters… those are memories parents never forget.

Another thing many people don’t realize is that Disney is actually built to support families with very young kids.

Every park has a Baby Care Center where you can feed babies, change diapers, warm bottles, nurse in a quiet space, and even buy essentials if you forgot something. They are air conditioned, calm, and honestly one of the most underrated places in the parks. 👶

And kids under 3 are free at Disney World.

Which means you can experience the parks together without needing an extra ticket for them.

If you’re waiting until your child is “old enough to remember,” you might miss one of the sweetest seasons of experiencing Disney as a parent.

Because some of the most magical Disney memories aren’t the rides.

They’re the little moments.
Seeing the castle for the first time.
Meeting a favorite character.
Watching fireworks together while your child falls asleep on your shoulder. 🎆

Those are the memories that stay with you.

So if you’re wondering whether your child is too young for Disney… they probably aren’t.

The most expensive and magical cup of coffee at Disney World is… the one already sitting in your hotel room. ☕✨

Not the Starbucks line that wraps around the building at 8:15am.
Not the $7 latte you mobile ordered while power walking down Main Street.

The best cup of coffee at Disney is the one you make in your room before the day even starts.

Because Disney mornings start early. Really early.

If you’re doing early entry or rope drop, alarms are going off around 6:30 or 7:00am. Kids are still waking up. Everyone is figuring out outfits, MagicBands, park bags, sunscreen, strollers… and the day hasn’t even started yet.

That quiet cup of coffee in the room is the calm before the magic.

It’s the moment where the room is still quiet. The kids are slowly waking up. The excitement for the day is starting to build. Maybe you’re looking at the My Disney Experience app, checking wait times, or figuring out your first ride of the day.

And technically… that coffee is already built into the price of the resort room.

Which means it might actually be the most expensive cup of coffee you drink all year. 👀

But it’s also the one that makes the day smoother.

Because the real Disney pros know something: the morning feels completely different when you’re not scrambling.

The families who glide through rope drop usually did a few simple things the night before.
Outfits laid out.
Park bag packed.
Phones charging.
Breakfast snacks ready.

So in the morning you can wake up slowly, drink that first cup of coffee, and start the day calm instead of chaotic.

And somehow that quiet cup of coffee before the parks open ends up feeling just as magical as anything inside the park.

Character dining… to book or not to book? 👀✨

Follow if you want Disney to feel magical—not stressful—because this is one of those decisions that can completely change your day 💛

Hey guys, we’re Love the Ramseys — helping families plan Disney the SMART way so you can have more magic and less stress ✨

Let’s break down character dining — the REAL pros and cons 👇

👉 PROS (why families LOVE it)
• You meet multiple characters at once (no waiting in long lines 🙌)
• It’s a guaranteed break — AC, seats, food = reset for everyone
• The interactions feel more personal (especially for little kids 🥹)

👉 CONS (this is where people get it wrong 👀)
• It’s EXPENSIVE — and adds up fast for families 💸
• Meals take 1.5–2 hours (that’s valuable park time)
• Picky eaters = you may not get your money’s worth
• Not all character meals are equal (some are WAY better than others)

👉 If budget is a focus on your trip
• Skip most character dining — this is one of the fastest ways to overspend

👉 If you DO want to do one
• Choose ONE — not multiple
• Pick based on YOUR child’s favorite characters
• Book it on a lighter park day or rest day (not during peak ride time)

👉 Here’s a great budget-friendly option
• Breakfast at The Crystal Palace
• One of the lowest-priced character meals — and still a fun experience with Winnie the Pooh & friends 🍯

Because the goal isn’t to do EVERYTHING…
It’s to do the RIGHT things for YOUR family ❤️

Disney water parks… you’re doing it wrong. 👀💦
Follow if you want Disney to feel magical—not stressful—because this is one of those things that can completely change your trip ✨
Hey guys, we’re Love the Ramseys — helping families plan Disney the SMART way so you can have more magic and less stress. 💛
Let’s talk about the Disney water parks — because most families either skip them… or don’t use them the right way 👇
👉 First — the BIG thing no one tells you
• Right now, on your arrival day, you can visit the water park for FREE 💥
• Yes — FREE. And most families don’t take advantage of this
👉 There are TWO water parks
• Blizzard Beach — more chill, great for younger kids
• Typhoon Lagoon — bigger thrills + wave pool
👉 But here’s what matters…
• They are RARELY open at the same time 👀
• So you don’t really choose between them — Disney does
👉 For families with younger kids
• Both have amazing kid areas
• But Blizzard Beach tends to feel a little easier + less overwhelming
👉 Why this is a GAME CHANGER
• It’s the perfect “low pressure” park day
• Way less walking than the parks
• Built-in fun without overplanning
👉 BUT — here’s where families mess up
• They try to cram it into an already packed park day
• They don’t bring the right essentials (towels, change of clothes, etc.)
• They underestimate how tired kids will be after
👉 So what should you do?
• Use it on arrival day (this is the BEST strategy)
• Treat it as a half-day, not a full grind day
• Let it be your “fun without stress” day
Because not every Disney day should feel like a marathon…
Some should feel like a vacation ❤️

Dining at the new Polynesian tower… is it actually worth it? 👀🌺

Follow if you want Disney to feel magical—not stressful—because this is one of those things that can either elevate your trip… or waste your time ✨

Hey guys, we’re Love the Ramseys — helping families plan Disney the SMART way so you can have more magic and less stress. 💛

We just experienced dining at the brand new tower at Disney’s Polynesian… and here’s the honest breakdown of Wailulu Bar & Grill 👇

👉 First — the VIBE
• This place is STUNNING. Like calm, elevated island energy 🌊
• It feels more relaxed than the main Polynesian crowds
• Perfect for slowing down in the middle of a busy trip

👉 The FOOD
• Fresh, tropical-inspired menu (think elevated but still approachable)
• Great mix for adults AND kids (which is rare 👀)
• Portions are solid — not tiny “Disney fancy” plates

👉 The EXPERIENCE (this is the big one)
• It’s quieter — which if you have little kids… matters A LOT
• You’re not rushed like typical park dining
• It actually feels like a break… not just another reservation

👉 BUT — here’s what you need to know
• It’s not character dining — so don’t expect that magic here
• You will need to travel to the resort (plan your timing!)
• It’s a slower meal — not ideal for a packed park day

👉 So… is it worth it?

YES — if you want:
• A calm, elevated meal
• A break from the chaos
• A “this feels special” moment on your trip

SKIP — if:
• Your kids only care about characters
• You’re trying to maximize rides
• You don’t want to leave the parks

Because not every Disney meal is about convenience…
Some are about creating those core memories you actually remember ❤️

Disney opinions that might upset people… from someone who goes to Disney every week. 👀

The longer you spend time in the parks, the more you realize that some of the things people think they have to do at Disney… actually aren’t the things that make the trip magical.

And some of the best Disney days look very different from what people expect.

For example, not every ride is worth waiting an hour or more for. Disney has incredible attractions, but when you go often you start to realize that protecting your energy and your time is actually the bigger win. If a line is long, we move on. There is almost always something else nearby with a shorter wait, a show starting soon, or a snack break that ends up being just as memorable.
Another one that surprises people… park hopping is not always the power move everyone thinks it is. Yes, it sounds great in theory. But the reality is that transportation between parks can easily eat up an hour of your day. Sometimes the best Disney strategy is committing to one park and enjoying it slowly instead of rushing from place to place.

Dining reservations are another one. Some of the most hyped restaurants are also the hardest to get and the most stressful to plan around. But Disney has amazing quick service food that requires no reservations and no rigid schedule. When we let go of the idea that every meal has to be a big dining experience, our park days became so much more relaxed.

Here’s another one people don’t talk about enough: early mornings at Disney go so much smoother when you prepare the night before. Lay out everyone’s outfits, pack the park bag, and have quick breakfast snacks ready in the room. Instead of rushing and starting the day stressed, your family gets to ease into the morning and actually enjoy rope drop.

And something I wish more families knew… the resorts are part of the magic. Some of our favorite Disney days don’t even include a park ticket. Watching fireworks from the Polynesian beach, exploring the Grand Floridian lobby, seeing the animals at Animal Kingdom Lodge, or catching an outdoor movie at a resort can end up being just as memorable as the rides.

Another big shift when you go often is realizing you don’t have to say yes to everything. Not every lightning lane is necessary. Not every restaurant is worth the hype. Not every ride needs to happen on every trip.

Sometimes the best Disney day is the one where you slow down, let the kids lead, grab a snack, find a shady bench, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Because Disney magic usually happens in the in-between moments… not just the big attractions.

If you want more honest Disney tips like this from someone who spends a lot of time in the parks, comment MAGIC and I’ll make sure you never miss another game-changing Disney tip like this again. ✨

And save this for your next Disney trip — these are the kinds of things that can completely change how your day feels in the parks.

Most Disney advice actually makes your trip worse.
Not because it’s wrong.
But because it assumes every family should do Disney the same way.
Wake up earlier.
Stack more rides.
Move faster.
Fit it all in.
And suddenly your vacation feels like a competition you didn’t sign up for.
I’ve watched families burn out by noon trying to follow “perfect” itineraries that leave no room for real life. Tired kids. Short attention spans. Needing a break. Wanting to just sit and take it all in.
More tips don’t always mean a better trip.
Sometimes they just add more pressure.
The best Disney days aren’t the ones where you check every box.
They’re the ones where the plan works for you — not the algorithm.
That’s why I share Disney in a different way.
Less rushing.
Less guilt.
More margin.
More magic.
Because when the advice fits your family, Disney feels easier.
And when it feels easier, it’s a lot more fun.
Follow along for simple, realistic Disney tips that help you enjoy the trip you’re already paying for.
