In this video Mills Gallery’s lead curator Jennifer Coolidge talks with artist Dan Gunderson about his upcoming exhibition on March 6th.
Gunderson is a fanatical collector with his daily or twice daily stops to garage sales, thrift shops and flea markets to see what he can find. A few storage units later, he has collected thousands of McDonald’s happy meal character toys, antique oddities and multiple objects from primary colored plastic hangers, brightly colored plastic lids and stacks of clear plastic stars to hundreds of broomstick handles.
Watch how Dan creates a unique experience for the viewer that allows the viewer to see things in a new and different way through works inspired by his passion for collecting.
