Did you know?!

My music is made for women. Let me clarify:

1. Most of my songs don't have curse words in them. Not that women don't curse but most are single mothers who have children nearby and I didn't want them to have to turn down the volume when they are around.

2. No song is about cheating. Most Hiphop songs contain that content. There are songs that about going through issues but they aren't about infidelity. It's more about growing apart or lack of communication.

3. No song is about a woman NEEDING man. It's about coming together as a complete partnership and growing together.

4. They are story based. A majority of my tracks tell a great story about love and compassion and even the "EMCEE" type songs don't get tangled up in nonsense. There's a point to all the tracks I make.

I’m so proud to announce my album is changing from “My Life Now” to “But In The End There’s Love”
I made the change because MLN felt like a revenge album. An album that had elements of anger in it. I’m not that person. I healed from that and I want to explore areas of the heart.

Journey Journal Day One:
My proposed video shoot for "Be There" is April 29th. So there's a lot of work to be done between now and that date. Working out, storyboarding, social media posts, etc. The only clear way to make sure things get done is to take each day by itself. Today, I'll be re-recording my single so I can get it mixed to debut on Apple Music, TikTok and Spotify. Til then, I'll be promoting the song through LIVES and Lyric breakdown videos. Lots of work to be done.

Getting back into music is not a cake walk. While so proud that I returned to the studio after 5 years, things did not go as planned. First, I never got my song mixed, well, let me say that it was "Mixed" according to the 'engineer' but I never received the mix and I haven't heard from him since. Predictable though because...
The second part, the raw copy I tried to upload just for listening sakes, isn't acceptable to upload and I shoot the video for it next month. I used to think these videos where stars have set backs was all staged, but no....it's real.
But I am still happy and optimistic that I will finish my album this year. 9.25.2024. But it's not going to come easy. Nothing good ever does.

It’s been 10 years of re-creating the RetroRev brand. From deciding what type of music I wanted to put out to the public, to image. Many artists when developing their art come across a challenge that creates doubt in their ability to go all the way. For some it’s income. For others it’s their perception of their own skill level. For me it was age. Hip-hop has always been seen as a young person’s game. Once you are of a certain age, it’s not seen for you. Like a sport actually. Where other genres such as Rock and Roll, the artist or band can play forever. I fought against that for years. And I finally sat back and told myself, “I belong here.” And the premise behind that statement came from simply realizing that I was prepared. That was building towards a goal. That I had substance and something to say. From there I created the #Ibelonghere movement. No matter what obstacle is in your way, know that if you truly believe in what you are doing, the only person you need to prove that to is yourself. Others will come around in time. Enjoy the journey, work hard and stay present. And when you start to doubt yourself, take a deep breath, look in the mirror and shout:

I BELONG HERE!
