This Friday, there's are opportunities to hear and to meet Daryl Davis! Daryl is the brave, powerful musician celebrated by Shawn Welcome in his PechaKucha and his poem last Saturday at PKN. Read below for details.

🎉 EXHIBIT GRAND OPENING: MEET DARYL DAVIS IN PERSON! 🎉

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1:00-3:00PM

The Holocaust Center is proud to present its newest, original curated exhibit: Uprooting Prejudice: Conversations For Change. The exhibit is rooted in the journey of DARYL DAVIS, a Black musician and ally, and highlights the immense change that can occur just by engaging in thoughtful conversation. This is the first time Daryl’s story is being told in a museum.

Get a chance to meet Daryl in person and be among the first to view the new exhibit. Then check out Daryl’s live musical performance on the Dr. Phillips Main Stage at Creative City Project’s IMMERSE festival later that night!

Visit Holocaustedu.org for more details and to plan your visit.

"It's jumping out of a plane with no parachute... and storytelling at its finest." Yesterday's WMFE "Intersection" interview with Aquanza Cadogan and Matt Peddie is a great introduction to PechaKucha and why it's such a powerful storytelling tool, and a community event that leaves you "wowed."

In her own words, Jill Shargaa is “Half-designer! Half-illustrator! Half-a-mind to admit it!” We count three halves, but that's because there's so much more to Jill. She’s also an accomplished comedian who turned her first PechaKucha talk for us ("The Awe of Awesome") into a TED talk that's been viewed 159,000 times. We’re excited to have Jill back on the PechaKacha stage on October 9 at the Dr. Phillips Center. We can’t wait to see you there, and as she would say, “Now on with the show!”

October 7, 2010. About 30 brave souls came out to the Cameo theater to see this event nobody had ever heard of, with the name nobody could pronounce. The bar's audio-visual equipment went down, and our wonderful speaker Tracy Ryzan Ross had to do her talk in the dark. It was all a bit of a mess, but it was wonderful too. Something was happening in that room... you could feel it.
