I’m back from a lovely break in Florida. Indulged in endless amounts of new inspiration.

*This pic is work in progress*

For now, I plan to finish the works I have started before starting something new. This is something I find quite challenging as my mind is always bouncing off so many ideas which I just have to get on paper.

Since having time to reflect on everything whilst away, I’ve decided to start a new instagram page for my community work/workshops and keep this page solely for my art. I notice I don’t really share enough of my own process and I’m hoping this way, it will make me share more. My workshop page is Community Workshops & Social Groups with Nichola Ethelston Art so please do give it a follow and share.

Due to many challenges lately, I plan to support more within my community and develop further on my own art practice, so I will no longer be taking on any new school referrals. This will hopefully allow me to manage my time better and to offer my children the support they need.

I have seen a huge shift in the education system, I can’t say it’s for the better. So my focus will now be on building confidence with those I support in my local community and surrounding areas.

Inspiration in Orlando 🩷

Couldn’t sit here not doing anything. I had this old canvas in my studio and I never knew what the abstract could become. But just realised I used to carry him through the garden amongst the daisies and I think this will be perfect to recreate that moment.

I’ve needed to take some time off social media for a while. Recently our beautiful Rocky gained his angel wings, we welcomed him to our first home and I was only 21 at the time.
The loss had hit us all so hard and I still can’t quite get my head around it all and the constant heavy feeling inside. He was just 2 years away from his 17th birthday.

We will cherish the amazing years and memories we had and what a gorgeous soul he was. Always there for a hug no matter what and for me that and his little tippy toes are what I miss the most.

Apologies for going quiet here and being very poor at responding/sharing etc. I will pick things back up against the end of August with some new art work too. For now though, I’m just taking it in my stride.

Thanks for all the kind messages and thoughtfulness from family and friends.

I had the best workshop experience with today. It’s not very often I get to be a participant and I haven’t done many workshops to be honest. But this one went so fast, I could have happily spent the day doing this.
Thank you so much for sharing your skills and ideas, buildings are challenging but you made this so fun and relaxed I was addicted by the end 😊🙈.

Creating in theme with the weather this time. It’s so dark here right now ☁️.

Exploring monochrome using an experiment with the lovely flowers I received a few weeks ago from a workshop. I keep flowers well past their date because they are great to paint with.
