Disney DAS 2026: What to Expect During the Registration Process
Every day I see people asking the same question:
“What do I need to say to get approved for DAS?”
The truth is that there is no magic phrase, secret keyword, or guaranteed way to receive approval. Disney evaluates each guest individually based on their circumstances and how their condition affects their ability to wait in a traditional standby queue.
The Biggest Mistake People Make
One of the most common mistakes guests make is focusing entirely on the name of their diagnosis.
While your diagnosis may be part of your story, Disney is typically trying to understand something much more important:
How does your condition affect your ability to wait in a traditional queue?
The Cast Member conducting the interview is not simply checking diagnoses off a list. They are trying to understand the challenges you face and determine whether DAS or another accommodation is the most appropriate option.
Instead of concentrating on what your diagnosis is called, focus on explaining:
• What happens when you are required to wait in a traditional queue
• What specific challenges crowds, noise, confined spaces, or extended waits create for you
• How your condition impacts your ability to remain in line
• What symptoms or behaviors occur when those challenges become overwhelming
The more clearly you explain your actual experience, the better Disney can understand your needs.
Starting the Process
The registration process is completed through the My Disney Experience app.
When registration becomes available for your trip, you’ll be prompted to launch a live video chat with a Disney Cast Member.
This is not a questionnaire or email form. It is a live conversation conducted over video.
The Guest Must Be Present
If you are applying for yourself, you must be present during the video interview.
If you are calling on behalf of a loved one, they must also be present during the interview, including children.
Disney wants to speak directly with the guest whenever possible and verify who the accommodation is being requested for.
Questions You May Be Asked
Every interview is different, but you may be asked questions about:
• How your disability affects you in queue environments
• What happens during long waits
• How you manage your disability outside of Disney parks
• What accommodations or coping strategies you use in everyday life
These questions are not designed to trick you. Disney is simply trying to understand your situation and how your condition impacts daily functioning.
The Decision Happens During the Call
One thing many first-time applicants don’t realize is that the determination is generally made during the video call itself.
The Cast Member will discuss your circumstances, review the information provided, and explain the outcome before ending the conversation.
If approved, they will move forward with the next steps of the registration process.
The DAS Photo
If approved, one of the final steps is taking a photo.
This photo becomes attached to your DAS profile and appears throughout your visit when return times are redeemed and attraction entrances are scanned.
The photo helps Cast Members verify that the registered guest is present and using the accommodation appropriately.
I’ll cover the photo process, return times, attraction selection, and how DAS works inside the parks in a future guide.
Final Thoughts
The best advice I can give is simple:
Be honest.
Be specific.
Focus on your actual experiences rather than trying to find the “right” answer.
Disney is not looking for perfect wording. They’re trying to understand how your condition affects your ability to wait in a traditional queue and what accommodation may best support your visit.
