Water level down and lake is frozen- a great time for foraging driftwood and fossils. Found an ancient bone with the marrow intact and a great piece of driftwood for one of the sculptures I’m working on. Good finds on a beautiful day. 😊

Into the Marshes…oil and cold wax on canvas - this is one is pretty big…painting for upcoming shows - the marshes in Florida are so beautiful - just don’t go through them at night in a small boat like i did and then a storm kicked up! Thought I was gator bait! Some spots in marshes are very shallow especially when the tide goes out and it’s easy to get moored up in the muck. It’s just as scary in an airboat at night - I can attest to that as well - but oh what fun!!!!

Always looking to the sky for inspiration. A fairly large oil on gallery wrap canvas. As much as I love frames, they are time consuming so I’ve tried to incorporate some gallery wrap pieces first the upcoming shows which are every month for rest of year. Hope everyone has a great rest of Summer!😊🌻🌻🌻

Found some nice red ochre for a new collection I’m starting. Once again foraging rocks for making pigments for my own paints. Found this one at a great waterfall along with yellow ochre and some gray shales.

Roseate Spoonbill… one of my favorite birds! Oil on gesso board - 14”x11” - the only spoonbill native to the Western Hemisphere… derives its pretty pink color from its diet which is rich in carotenoids.

New oil painting- actually still wet. “Ascend” - Great White Egret… 16x20 on panel. Such a joy to paint… so thankful for being able to experience the depth of happiness that comes with painting and creating. Many thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ of my soul for making it possible😊

Once upon a red dirt road in Wyoming… one day I took a road from the ranch I had never traveled and was surprised by a host of happy sunflowers stretching out over a hill into a beautiful valley. Oil on cradled birch panel - 14” x 11”

Going back to my first love in painting - wildlife. This piece is entitled, “Perseverance”. 20” x 16” Oil on Panel. Such a wonderful success story is that of the American Bison. All but wiped out, these magnificent creatures, with the help of dedicated conservationists, were brought back from the brink of extinction. Their presence is helping restore ecosystems that were nearly destroyed with the encroachment of people in the Westward migration and the slaughter of the Plains Bison. Yellowstone National Park is likely the only location in the US where free-ranging bison were never wiped out, continuing to exist in the wild in their ancestral home. There is a great history of this amazing comeback - a story of perseverance of this stalwart animal and those with wisdom to protect it - indigenous peoples, conservationists, scientists and other concerned individuals. A great book to read about this great American icon is, award-winning, “Bison: Portrait of an Icon”, written by with stunning photography by, .
