Im feeling like Batman right now because the Joker has returned!

I made this 5th Virginia coat 5 years ago but forgot to take into account the stature of the customer was a bit shorter so I have altered it and took off a good 6 inches off the bottom, took out the pocket and sealed it up with material from the cut off bottom

Finished last night. Continental officer's uniform coat. Generally officers uniforms of the Continental army were plain but made of higher grade cloth since they were private purchased but a few that I've seen in paintings and miniatures had a trim of sorts on their coats.

This is made with blue broadcloth from Wm. Booth, Draper at the Sign of the Unicorn, scarlet superfine broadcloth and silver plated buttons from Najecki, the lining is leftover from a previous project and I believe it came from Burnley & Trowbridge Company. The epaulette I had actually made like 5 years ago now it has a shoulder to call home. I based this off of a miniature of a Continental officer and took some details from the Gansevoort uniform that is in the Smithsonian

I got to teach my first sewing class yesterday for the Colonial Heritage Foundation. It was about shirts of the 18th century and then we got to work on shirts and shifts for some folks. I took my 1816 shirt to show the difference between it and shirts of the Revolutionary War era and along with that I had my original 1770s waistcoat and an original piece of linen with some nice delicate embroidery.

Finished and also mostly finished (the breeches need the legs fitted and the kneebands finished) is this set of small clothes for a 1770s Royal Navy Lieutenants uniform. Both made from Kochan and Philips superfine broadcloth and lined in osnaburg or a h**p fabric from William Booth Draper. Eventually it will have the coat to go with it as well.
