My teammate John Thering is certainly known for buying his share of raffle tickets. I took a photo of him during the Rose Bowl Classic Awards Party...and ChatGpt did the rest. -Tom

Hi Bowling fans....was going through an old cabinet in my garage....and look what I found...one of our buttons from our very first Rose Bowl Classic in 1983. I guess I DO save everything. LOL

This is Tom: I have a sincere apology to make to one of our teams. On the last day of bowling, the 16th session, "Are We Having Fun Yet", broke the season records for High Scratch Team Series, and the High Handicap Team Series. Being the last week, and in a rush to finalize all the payouts and certificates, I didn't catch that new HIGH. Mr. Bartholomew made me aware of his new high Individual Scratch series, but I was unaware of the other new high.

Here is what the final Season Highs are....I will make it right financially when I see the Team members of "Are We Having Fun Yet". Please remember that Teams and Individuals get rewarded for their first high, and the second one goes to the other team. So "Are We Having Fun Yet" wins the Top High Scratch Series, while the "58lbs of Balls", maintains their reward for the High in the Team Handicap field. Congratulations Boys!

From the Founder, Tom Geil: I initially post this as a response to a reply...but wanted to post it to everyone who follows our league: I had no idea 47 years ago that this event created to provide camaraderie in our community between men and women would still be going strong in our community, or that I would still be alive to witness it. We lost so many friends along the way to AIDS, age and other factors, that I'm glad that I am still here.

I used to do this all by myself... even when we had 300 bowlers. Thank you to our full team of officer who alleviated much of that stress...to Mike for all the unique side events and playoffs; to Terry, our ticket master for handling all the raffle tickets; to John for his detailed work with our budgets and income...he and I work closely together at season end to ensure accuracy in payouts. Roger Castillo stepped in at season end to help with the certificates. Thank you officers, but even more importantly, thank you to all our bowlers who weekly create such fun camaraderie. This old guy appreciates you all. Hope to make it to 50 years! Have a great summer. - Tom Geil

PCBL

Well, another season has come to a close. I hope everyone had a great time. Enjoy your summer break. Rest up those bowling arms and legs. Most of us are returning next season. I will leave you alone for a couple of months before you must deal with my updates.

Monte Carlo was great. We sold some tickets. Had a few new friends join us and gave out a ton of cash. I wanted to thank Terry for doing such a great job all year long keeping tabs on everything. He also made up all those ticket packs. I bet after PCBL and Rose Bowl he must have his HVAC guy clean out all the ticket dust from the ventilation system.

Thank you to Tom and John for keeping everything straight all year long. Its that great bookkeeping that keeps us on track for the payouts.

Also want to thank Roger for helping at the end of the season with all the awards. Quite a bit to put together. So much goes on behind the scenes you may not realize what it takes to keep the records. I am out in front of everyone all year, so you get to see me, I just want you all to know that it is not just me that takes care of your league. All these people have key roles.

The Blind Doubles Championship was this past week. First let me say thank you to everyone that participates all year long. You do not have to be a great bowler to play and win. Handicap is a big part of it. I truly enjoy the extra competition. One of these years I am going to win my own event. I put up a good fight this year. But I could not overcome Tim Curtin; He threw the front 7 in game one and ended with a 267. We have our second repeat Champion. We will have to see if Niki Davis Jr will come back and see if one of them can win 3. Tim took home the trophy, I will get his name on the plague, my $100…and most of all, Bragging rights for next year.
Here are your overall standings for this year’s competition

Blind Doubles Championship 2026 Results

Tim Curtin 774
Mike Bartholomew 744
Jon O'Guin 699
Barry Fitzgerald 690
Roger Castillo 690
John Thering 683
Teri Lynn Curtin 660
Jimmy Grundman 656
Rachael Lockie 654
Landis Jurd 644
Casey Ipock 640
Justin Wenzinger 634
Julie Williamson 623

I personally wanted to thank everyone that bowled this year. It is all of you that make this so much fun. It is a good mixture of just pure enjoyment and a little bit of competition. Thank you for allowing me to poke a little fun during the week as well. Thank you for allowing me to run those side pots. It really does make me happy to see you win. BTW, Nick may not be back with us next year, so we all have a better chance at the Strike shot.

Have a great summer and we will see you in August.

Here we go — it’s that time again!
The Blind Doubles Championship is back, and once more you have a chance to win Austin and Mike’s money. Enjoy it while you can… we’re going to miss Austin next year. Huge congratulations to him on being accepted into nursing school — he’s definitely going to need that $100.

Below are your qualifiers. Remember: it’s the top 10 positions. If there’s a tie, everyone in that tied position moves forward. If a qualifier can’t attend, I advance the next position.

This year, two qualifiers aren’t able to be there — which means two additional spots move forward. Those positions also happen to be ties. So, if your name is highlighted in yellow, you were originally alternates, but thanks to a little attendance magic, you are now officially in the Blind Doubles Championship.

Just like the league… I’m very inclusive.
My game. My money. My rules.

And yes — I bet you’re all thrilled I shot my 700 last week.
