Mahar After Prom Party This all-night, drug and alcohol-free party is for Mahar juniors, seniors, and their guests. We wish all the seniors the best in their future!

The Party had to be cancelled due to the CoVid pandemic in 2020 & 2021.

The after prom party is a week a way. A lot of time, effort, money, and donations go into planning this night for our kids to have a fun and safe night. This year we are back at the Athol YMCA. We have a bunch of good food being donated by local businesses, great prizes and fun activities to keep them busy. Please talk to your kids about getting their permission slips turned in by Tuesday. Everyone is welcome the night of the party but getting your permission slips in by Tuesday will insure they get a gift. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Today's Supermarket Sweep was pretty exciting. Sean Murphy, winner Ann Soucie's son, did the "shopping". He scooped $686.33 of meat, and only meat! Unfortunately, we only had 87 tickets sold for a total intake of $870. So, MAPP's profit was $183.67.

Next year I think that considering the higher prices of food these days, the tickets need to be $20 to make this a viable fundraiser. More folks taking tickets and selling would help as well.

Thank you to everyone who helped support the latest fundraiser for the Mahar After Prom Party. The Supermarket Sweep (a 2-minute shopping spree at Hannaford Market ) was won by Ann Soucie. She (or a sub selected by her) will be scooping groceries this weekend. Thanks to all who participated and to Joe Goody, Hannaford manager, who opens Hannaford early just for this event.

SUPERMARKET SWEEP NEWS: Today is the last day to buy a Sweep ticket to get a chance at a 2-minute shopping spree at Hannaford Supermarket. Drawing is tonight at 7 p.m. If you still would like to donate to get a ticket, please let me know. I can take Venmo and will put your info onto a ticket. Such fun! Winner usually scoops between $400 and $800 worth of groceries. After the groceries are settled for, the rest of the proceeds benefit this year's Mahar After Prom Party! There will be a meeting on Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m., at the Hannaford Dunkin to see what can be done for this year and to gear up for next year. I (Helene Holmes) think it is pretty much too late to plan and execute the party this year. It costs us about $12,000 to put it on and our treasury has very little. Fundraising takes time and usually amounts to the full school year, starting in August, to be successful.

Also, is it something juniors and seniors really want? Seems like keg parties, etc. have lessened in popularity which is why we started this in the first place. Last year I think only had about 20-30 kids at the end of the night. Total percent of the two classes attending was nowhere near even 50%. In the past, 95% of the senior class attended. Now, with two classes involved, we have many fewer.

Mahar Juniors and Seniors attending the Mahar After Prom Party tomorrow (Friday) night. Here are a few details you need to know:
The Gym Doors will be used as the only entrance and exit to the Party.
Doors open at 9:30, and are locked at 11 p.m.
If, for some reason, you won't be able to be there by 11, please call me at 978-895-2158 so we know. That is also the emergency number for parents/guardians, just in case.
We have hangers and a rack to hang tuxes and gowns so come right to Mahar after the Prom.
At the door, you will have to check in and have your bag (if you are bringing one) checked as well.
No outside food or beverages will be allowed in. We have all kinds of great eats available.
After you check in, use the High School locker rooms to change into your "Party" gear. NOTE: The locker rooms will be closed and locked at 11 p.m.
There will be schedules posted for all the events that are happening and where to find them. Feel free to take a picture on your phone so you don't miss anything. We will have contests, etc. going on at specific times with prizes for the winners!
Each hour, there will be a drawing for a prize of the hour.
The Party lasts until 5 a.m. If, for some reason, you need/want to leave before that, please see me at the desk outside the gym so your parents can be notified that you are leaving us. We do hope you stay for the gifts that will be distributed near the end of the Party.

Parents and friends have worked hard to make this Party fun and memorable for you. Hope you enjoy it!

After the MAPP meeting held last night, it was agreed that the Party will happen. We heard from quite a few kids that there were quite a few others who just didn't get the required permission form submitted yet. A survey to get names and phone numbers of any of those juniors or seniors who are planning to attend will be circulated electronically . This will get a more accurate count of attendees for planning the food, gifts, etc.

Please, when you receive the survey, just let us know if you plan to attend or not. The survey is a quick answer and should take only a minute or so to fill out and submit.

Many people, both parents and friends have worked to make this Party a success and a fun, memorable night for everyone. Looking forward to seeing all of you.

We understand that there is a track event on the day after prom. Track members are encouraged to come to the Party for as long as they can, not necessarily the entire night.

As of today, May 6, there are only 14 seniors, 6 juniors, and 6 guests registered for this year's MAPP. It isn't really feasible to have such a party for that small a group. If you are planning on attending, but haven't let us know yet, please text your name, grade, and phone number to me (Helene Holmes) (978-895-2158) We need a count in order to make sure we have enough food and gifts.
This party is entirely FREE! Food, games, fun, henna tattoos, etc.)

Students do NOT have to attend Prom to come to the After Prom Party. All juniors and seniors are invited and encouraged to bring a guest.

IMPORTANT MEETING TONIGHT (Thursday, April 10, 2025)! 6:30 at Hannaford Dunkins to make some important decisions. All input welcome. Time is getting short! We need parental involvement for all facets of this event. You don't have to be a parent, interested friends welcome, too.
